How is everyone managing their throwline? What type of throwline are you using? Are there any spool systems, like the doyles gear hoist, something that reels
up your line? Is it pretty standard to just lay out the line on the forest floor, throw it, and then coil it up like paracord when your done? Does anyone use fishing line off a spool? If so, what type and lb test line? How do you manage the spool?

Thanks guys.

Use a cube.
If that isn’t feasible, use a cube.
If a cube doesn’t work for you, don’t use a throw line.
Seriously, use a cube.
No matter how well it goes in your back yard with your lightweight packable solution, it will be infinitely harder in the deer woods.

I second this. A throw cube fields pretty small and works great

USE A CUBE! I've tried many other methods and they're just aggravating, especially with any kind of ground cover. Where I hunt it's mostly blueberry bushes! This is the most packable one that I've found and the one I'm currently using:

Here's that I use:
https://blackhawk.com/s-t-r-i-k-e-flashbang-pouch-molle/ (Not the exact one but same size)
https://doublesteps.com/product/dynaglide-throwline-1-8mm/ (80' of line)
https://wesspur.com/items/thr225.html (Not the exact one but close and 12oz)

The molle pouch stays on my pack with the throwline and throwball in the pouch. The line is wound this way:

When I get to the tree, I take the throwline out, pay it out on the ground and tie it to the throwball with a slipped overhand knot.

Once the climbing rope is set, throwline is wound back up and everything is put back in the pouch.

Best thing to do is go to Wes spur and get you a foldable throw cube and some poly or spectra throw line. Keep paracord with you so that you don’t have to keep buying more throwball line. It’s smaller, goes through the crotch smoother and it doesn’t tangle as bad. It’s really an easy system with a throw cube. You just lay the line back in there, fold the cube and you’re ready to go

I do the figure 8 wrap too and just keep it and my throw bag in a pocket in my backpack. I've thought about getting a cube, but haven't sprung for one yet and haven't had a serious issue where I needed one. I might clear a small area on the ground to flake it onto if I miss on the first throw, but I've not had any crazy tangles yet.

But, maybe the cube or something would help if I was in thicker undercover.

I use a reusable grocery bag from Wally World. I'm sure it's not as handy as a cube, but the price is right.
