Stabilizers in saddle

This will be my 1st year saddle hunting. Ive always either ground hunted or in tree stand. Question is what size stabilizer do you guys use out of your saddle. Waiting for my Hoyt axius ultra to arrive. It will have a 32inch draw with 80lb limbs. Thanks

I’m using this. I have about 8-9” out front. I leave my quiver attached so I liked the idea of this offsetting the weight of the stabilizer, arrows, and sight.

I went away from a stabilizer. My shooting didn’t suffer from it. I didn’t move away from it because of saddle hunting though.

I agree that at hunting distance form a tree the stabilizer probably doesn’t matter. And the bows now are so quiet as is. But if I were hunting out west with the possibility of 60yd shots I’d definitely use one.

Losing the stabilizer did aid in navigating through brush and in the tree while in the saddle. If I was going to add one it would be a stubby one.

I shoot a 10" out front and 8" on the back. I mean your arrow sticks out 20 inches so there would be no difference if you shot a 20 inch bar your arrow is going to prevent you from moving the bow around not the 10 or 12 inch stabilizer. I love being able to pull back and my bubble is centered and my hold is steady. I do not want to have to think when drawing back on an animal. I can shoot darn near the same groups with no stabilizers but I want to think less about how my hold is and more about placement in the stand.

Thanks guys. Yea my other bow i used a 6 inch and couldnt tell a diffence when i took it off. I know the axius ultra was really quiet and dead in the hand when i tried them out but those were 70lb bows not 80lb like im getting. I guess it will be something ill have to play with

None. I haven't found stabs to really do very much for me, especially in a hunting situation. I don't like lugging around extra weight on my bow. It doesn't seem worth the weight and expense to me to make the bow ever so slightly more balanced and stable, which I can hardly detect anyway. I do have a bowjax dampener threaded into the stab hole just to eat a little riser vibration, but barely notice any difference there either. I guess the slight side imbalance due to quiver weight (3-arrow Kwikee) doesn't bother me enough to try to offset it with even more weight. I remove the quiver anyway when I'm in the saddle. I like a good stab setup for shooting target and 3D, but hunting is different. Accuracy might degrade a tiny bit without it, but not enough to make a difference. That's my experience anyway. Others may differ...

I agree with everyone that doesn't use one. Stopped a long time ago.

I don’t feel a stabilizer is needed for close range saddle hunting .
