Stalker Coyote incoming

Well fellas, I couldn’t put an arrow anywhere near the center of the target with the 45 lb limbs…. It was frustrating and I think I just didn’t have the right spine arrows and needed to get used to the bow, but, I put the 60 lb limbs on and from the first shot I was doing much better. I talked to a buddy who is much more knowledgeable and he said the heavier limbs make a cleaner release. I had some 340 spine arrows for my compound and was able to get them to bare shaft tune so I ended up getting some Black Eagle tradition 350s and a little fiddling I got everything set up and flying straight. 350 spine, 50 grain of inserts and 150 grain up front. I have been shooting it often and am getting great groups out to 30 yards. It took me a bit to get used to the Jager grip which at first I was really disappointed in my choice but now I think it was the best decision I made on the bow and it settles in great with my form (not good form).

one thing I do plan to do is take the antler limb bolts and set them in a pot with some black walnuts overnight to take the white out of them. They seem to stick out like a sore thumb even though they look great.

I thought I would shoot my compound along side this bow to use on a few trips I have planned this year but I haven’t touched it. I have enjoyed shooting this bow so much that I decided to only use the longbow this year. The fella I am hunting with said I am putting a handicap on myself but I just can’t seem to put the bow down, it’s such a fun bow to shoot.

Anybody that thinks hunting with a traditional bow is a handicap, doesnt truly understand bowhunting.

I can’t get enough of them… I want one so bad but I’m a fricken weakling… I shoot a 50# compound but struggle with a dang 25#stick bow..
All during high school football my coaches lied and told me I was 5'10" and 195 to beef up the roster for intimidation. I swear the Doc giving physicals that day said the same thing?? But almost 40 years later whenever I go to get a physical I always look at them strangely when they yell out: "67 inches tall" I'm like, What the??? Anyway, I pull 60lbs on my compound and have bows that peak at 70. For trad around 43 at my 27.5" DL is about ok for me. I probably would do better with 35lb limbs to work up to a smoother fingers release. :fearscream:

Imo you buddy is half right. Heavy bows tend to mask release issues. The heavier pull for many rips the string out cleaner for sure. But then they shoot a light bow and everything goes to crap in and hand basket. Best thing I ever did for my shooting was shoot a 40lb bow for a few seasons. Light bows can really help you work the kinks out of your form. They will also show you the flaws more easily.
