Stand hanging process

Trying to give a hang on a fair shake. I'm 100% more still and 50% more comfortable in a stand.

But I see myself dealing with the downsides of a saddle for one reason: ease of set up. I can hang my sticks on my saddle sides, with the predator on the backside, and only have to go up the tree once.

I just don't see that being possible with a stand unless I leave my back pack at home, or use a tow rope for the stand, and a tow rope for my bow.

What's your method? Not ready to use a saddle and stand at the same time. Add the bow into the mix,, and the stuff I carry into the woods will be more valuable than what I drive to get there..

Get to tree. Set pack on ground. Set bow on ground. Climb tree with stand on back. Get to height, tie off, set stand. Sit down in stand and lower bow rope with hook and fish up pack. Repeat for bow. Hunt. Opposite order to take down.

I tie tent tie downs on my sides of my vest.
they hang as i climb. My bow is on ground with haul line hooked to it and that attached to the resr of my saftey vest.
Very simple. One time up tree is where its at.

Same process as the saddle and a predator xl except I use a pull up rope for my LWCG 1.0 instead of carrying up. I climb once. Steps are hung on my saddle, I climb up, pull up 1.0 and hang it. I have a pull up rope on the left for bow.

Hang first stick, jump up hang second stick, come down and attach my other 2 sticks with para cord loops off saddle plastic hooks, put my stand on my back and go up, I use a sling style pouch thing from dano that doesn’t get in the way of my stand on my back to carry my extras, I’m plan on adding a small pouch under my stand seat also at some point maybe, pull my bow up and I’m done, big packs stay on the ground with me.

Only thing I do different from above is use a Doyle's instead of fishing for gear. That game tries my patience, which is usually in short supply come Saturday morning.

I use the Doyle’s. Kept specific items out because the process stays the same.

first item could be attached to Doyle’s but I’m fishing the second.

In that case, you're doing it right! But why not clip your weapon and pack to the Doyle's and haul both up? I always just run the line through the hanging loop on the pack and then secure the bow/rifle/crossbow/bazooka however

Also, slightly related to topic, heck with hanging sticks on yourself. I set whatever I can't hang from the ground on the highest standoff. Way better than acting out a human wind chime.

The one trip is nice but I don't have it mastered yet either. Its so much easier for me to set WE stepps and hang platform/hys strap first. After that I climb down and grab my pack and secure a pull up line for my bow. I crawl up with ease and put my backpack on the strap and bring up the bow. I can be quieter and quicker when I dont attempt 1 trip.

Are folks really making two trips? I’m not poking fun - from the time I got my first set of portable climbing sticks, I just automatically started climbing in one trip. I never thought there was another way.

seems like it would introduce a whole lot of extra risk.

I have before. If the trek in is long and I'll be sweated up I may hang everything, then descend and do a full change at ground level into my hunting cloths. I have changed in the tree-stand on numerous occasions, but its probably faster and safer to do so the base of the tree.

Should be able to hang your first couple of sticks from the ground. Carry your stand on your back while hanging the others. You can add paracord loops to hang off the side of your harness/saddle to hold your other sticks. Set stand and pull up gear. Should be able to pull your pack and weapon up together using a gear hoist or rope tied to your harness/saddle. Also you could just wear a fanny pack or attach a pack to your stand.

I one option to lessen the things you have to carry by 1 is to daisy chain 2 pull up ropes. Let's say you want to leave your bow and pack on the ground while you climb (b/c you have your stand on your back). Tie a pull up rope or doyles on your belt/harness and connect to pack. connect a pull up rope/paracord between pack and bow and leave on ground. When you get to top, pull up pack and hang, then pull up bow.

I manage the sticks the same as most of the other posts already stated. One little trick I started this year though that may help you out. I put a niteize gear tie on the batwing of my LW stand and made it into a loop. It stays there all the time and isn’t in the way at all. When I get to where I want to hang the stand I put my strap with the gear hooks on the tree, take the stand off my back and hang it on the hook so I have both hands free to run the stand strap around the tree, cinch the strap down, then loosen the gear hanger strap, unhook it from gear tie and slide it up to the height I want it while I’m in the tree.

You could do the same with saddle platform if you want but they aren’t as bulky or heavy so it’s not really necessary.
