New video from infalt/hunting beast YouTube comparing. Curious what some on here think, because I’ve been finding myself leaning more and more towards moving back to stand or ground hunting

You should hunt with what works best for you. Typically, I use a stand, saddle hunt, and ground hunt. They all have their place for me, others might not do well with one approach or another and shouldn't force it because of someone else.

I think some people are realizing that most people want options. That at the end of the day, a few lbs is not going to be such a burdened that you should pick a saddle over a platform. I think that's one of the selling point that got people into saddle. Oh, 2 lbs saddle VS 15 lbs stand??? Sign me up!

But you do lose the ability of just standing or sitting against the tree which is not all that bad. The Traditional Bow Hunter Pod Cast make a really good point of why he doesn't saddle hunt but its still a great method, just not what works for him.

People are going to move to a hybrid of light weight hang on with a saddle. A few people agreed that the best of both worlds so far is a saddle with the LWCG .5 (with some mods). Basically a few extra lbs over the Predator and you get the options of sitting and a bigger platform. I think that's why a lot of company are offering bigger platforms. At some point, they are literally just going to make the platform bigger and.......ADD a seat!! REVOLUTIONARY!!!

I realize it's saddle hunter... I was just curious about folks thoughts.
I too like options.

On ground where you could take a vehicle close to the stand spot to place ladder, hang on or climbers, that's the way to go. If ya gotta walk, or theft is an issue, saddle is the way to go.

Ground hunting can be done, bit trickier with a bow than with a xbow or gun.

I do both also and most often actually do the hybrid thing with a saddle and the .5. It’s really nice to be able to sit down for real if I want to and the extra room is awesome. I’m still not getting rid of my Ridge Runner. I like the .5 and RR for different reasons. I have run into a couple times where even a .5 wouldn’t fit or work very well but I could make the RR work. Overall I do prefer a stand to stand up on and definitely for actually sitting down but I can also stand on the RR pretty comfortably for a little bit. Like many have said I do like having options and glad I have both. Going to continue to do both and choose which one depending on the situation or just what I feel like using at the time.

Ive ground hunted in a particular property for over twenty years during gun season. The last couple years, my favorite spot that most years unless I bump the deer walking in, I can have the first deer down within minutes of legal shooting time., was getting so overgrown the deer had to be in my lap to see them or have a clear shot. That's what sent me on the saddle journey. Couldn't even put a climber or ladder stand there it was so bad. Ender up putting a ladder stand in another section of property that has only yielded one deer in three years.

Got my saddle last season and tagged out in archery season on a different property so still haven't gotten to try my favorite spot yet.

Where is it? If your not going to hunt it ill try to help you cover the spot.

They all have their place. I luv my saddle but will probably never stop using treestands when they make more sense. The problem with ground hunting has been and always will be, getting away with movement. When you're hunting mature deer on public land it is tough to get away with movement to get the shot off. I hunted from the ground last year because it made more sense for the conditions, but I still got busted from a hidden spot when I tried to move. The buck finally settled down and went back to normal and I ended up shooting him, but only because it was during the rut. He wouldn't have acted like that in Oct. I'm sure.

if you are just stting on the edge of a feild why would you use a saddle ,hang on stand or a tripode when a ladderstand would work...they dragged in a trypod.....clickbait.if you want to see some real beast mode watch camron hanes grab a kicking ram by the hornes and drag it off an icey cliff.atleast its good entertainment

some goodguys just south of me make videoes hunting blacktail from treestands.if you watch the whole series you will see it took almost three seasons to harvest a mature buck .too much underbrush.stand placement just wasnt quite rite .one of our greatest stand hunters out here would move his stand in the middle of the season more than once if neccisary.just easyer to do with a saddle when there is no chance of even seeing the deer from the ground at ten yards.their vids are called against the wind

I think both the stand and the saddle have their pros and cons. I use both. I do think it's kind of odd that Dan got a fella that seemed terrified of heights to do his comparison though.

I agree. The dude straight up said he was afraid of heights. Wth is he even doing in a tree. He looked like me the first time I put weight on my tether. No doubt a experienced saddle hunter could shoot 360 around that tree.

For those who haven't seen it there's another discussion thread on this topic here.

Personally plan to keep all my options open to include climbers, lockons, ladders and saddle. Missed two points in the competition last year because I shot my second buck (10pt) from my climber and not from a saddle so I couldn't upgrade. No regrets!

I will be using both. For me I hunt some very easy spots and I also hunt some areas where its a long/steep walk in and wanted to shed some weight to make that walk easier. Also, some of my easier spots don't have great trees for a climber. I think having multiple tools helps get the job done. There are multiple ways to get the job done so for me its per application so to speak
