Steak and roasted sweet potatoes. Simple is so good sometimes. Cast iron sear on each time, under the broiler for a minute, rest and slice. The wife has gone from being unsure about eating deer (other than summer sausage or sticks) to requesting it. That’s making the successes even more rewarding. Sweet potatoes are a great pair with venison. I put them in my stews all the time, as well as Roasted on the side.

What's the procedure for adding sweet taters to stew? Maybe as not to derail you could post up a recipe? Sounds tasty!
 
Sure. No problem. I use the recipe from The Meat Eaters complete guide to hunting, cooking, and butchering. Here it is: https://www.themeateater.com/cook/recipes/bone-in-blade-roast-with-root-vegetables-recipe

Sautee onions and garlic. Remove from stove. Place in bottom of crock pot. ( I also threw in mushrooms, and green pepper. I like throw in any veggies I have on hand).

Season meat, salt and pepper. Braise meat on all sides in oil. Place on top of onions.

Cover about half way up the side of meat with game stock.

Throw in potatoes cut in 1 in. cubes. Toss in fresh rosemary and thyme.

Cook on low about 8-10 hours. Boom.
