Stealth Strip - Is it really necessary

I have found this athletic tape to be a budget friendly option for quieting down all of my gear. (Link below) It’s affordable enough to cover all my sticks, platform, calls, clips, and anything else if it get bored. It's worked well for me. I ran all black last year, this year I did Camo over the athletic tape. Pictures are to large to link unfortunately.

I'd rather spend a bit more and support lou

I have never used stealth strips. Are they like some type of micro fiber? If so, over time as you handle the sticks your scent gets embedded in the micro fiber and you end up with a human scent wick that goes from the bottom of the tree all the way up to where you are hanging in the tree. That would definitely be a concern for me. Are they micro fiber?

If you don't think being quiet is important i can't imagine you being very successful.
Everything helps...
One of my favorite and most successful spots I can be as noising as I want. It’s a revine about 200 yards off I-90 all the traffic noise the deer are so used to it they dont raise an ear if your bow rattles coming off the hanger. So stealth isn’t always 100% a necessity

How does this compare to vet tape?

I’m not positive. I’ve never tried vet tape. The athletic tape has been pretty durable. The only place it has peeled up is where I wrap my rope mod around the Versa button.

Hey all,
Just trying to get started with Saddle Hunting, and I noticed that there are a lot of stuff where other hunters have "Stealth Strip" their sticks, platforms etc. I guess I am not sure just how necessary is this. I've only hunted 15+ seasons. Tree stand, Stalking and Still Hunting (no blinds). With the tree stand, no stealth strips a little clanging when setting up and during the climb. Stalking - just move verrrrrry slow, scan verrrrry slow and pay attention to the wind. Still Hunting...Don't MOVE lol:tearsofjoy:. Being a Rifle Hunter, I typically stand out in blaze orange. So, I'm just wondering if anyone can attest to having improved success because their gear has been stealth striped? Not trying to raise any hackles...just curious.
I think some people go kind of nuts with it.
Wrappings, stripping , tape etc.
i used to do all of that myself.
my new setups are just stripped wherever metal contact will be.
i do have a budfy of mine doesnt do any of it. He actually calls it all gimmiks lol.

I like SS on some stuff but I will say I have no luck putting it on carabiners. It lasts about a hunt or two then Im left with bits of stealth strip and a sticky gooey carabineer the rest of the year.

Staying quiet helps increase success rates when hunting.

Using some sort of gear-silencing covering is used by many. Stealth strips, shrink wrap, vet-wrap, hockey tape, athletic tape, slayer tape, are all options.

That's why I have been using shrink wrap on carabiners. Works well with a 3:1 shrink ratio and non-adhesive on the inside.

Vet wrap works great for large applications or stuff you may want to remove it from. I use stealth strips on my MR Safeguard, arrow rest, riser etc. and Vet wrap on my carabiners and "D" rings on my notch. I would also use Stealth Strips on arrow rests or the bow shelf or where you want a more permanent use of it. The next rest I set up I'll probably take a tip from John Dudley on using gorilla tape for your arrow rest fingers or whale tail or whatever. It doesn't compress over time like the felt adhesive that comes with most wraps. Shrink tubing is good but more cumbersome to replace. With the gorilla duct tape it wears like iron, is silent and you can throw another piece on your arrow rest.
