I have had some issues with the Celtic stopper knot coming loose.
I tried a sliding knot that I have used for years on my running shoes and it works well.
Not sure what it’s called?

I think this is what Bowmar calls a constrictor knot. If you look up constrictor knot other places, then it shows something different (more complicated clove hitch).

EDIT: Just realized that Bowmar above and I think OP are tying the same knot I do for this purpose (which I think is sliding against the screw link on your tether to keep it up). I do it as tying one side of a double fisherman's knot onto the main line and then cutting it off (so just 2 turns, but maybe more are better). On the tag end that will touch the screw link/tether, I give it like 6 wraps of duct tape and wedge that over the screw link and against the tree. This is a good knot for me because if it starts to loosen just grab the two tag ends and pull.

I use a nite eyes tie. 10 or 12 inch. I wrap it around the rope. Saw this on Garret Prahls DIY Sportsman video recently. Works great. If you repel, dont forget to undo it.

I’m going to avoid multi-quoting and just address all of the above:

Yes, it’s just to keep my tether from sliding down when there isn’t tension on it.

It is the same constrictor knot that Josh Bowmar is tying in the video link above. However, I was tying it in a much more complicated fashion. Wow. Thanks for the link.

No, definitely not to keep you from sliding off the end of your rope.

I love Nite Eyes Gear Ties as much as anyone and I have used one for this purpose before. However, this knot is much quicker to move up and down your main line than a gear tie. I like it better for this purpose.
