Success from the ground

I am not proficient enough/confident enough with my recurve to hunt yet but spot and stalk with my compound is my favorite. I'm 50/50 elevated vs on the ground on the critters I've killed. I've killed a deer off the ground wearing a Hawaiian shirt and almost killed a couple turkeys spot and stalk with my bow. The most fun is sneaking in amongst a large sounder of pigs and shooting them till u run out of arrows. I've almost been ran over from pigs I've pierced shooting them off the ground.....exciting
That sound ella fun right der.its a desperate hunting tactic that I only use when you can hear elk meandering around to bed when the wind is wrong and the ground is loud and sneaking is not an option but runing into the middle of a heard and stampeeding them can present great shot opertunities when they start standing up systematically around you.some guys buggle at this point..and if you don't see your bull you run with them 50 yards stop and draw..you could get run over but it is funner than poking snakes with a stick.1000003667.jpg1000003668.jpgmy cuzzin has some mean pigs down south though ....might have to expand my horizons

As I have gotten older I stared hunting from the ground more for the last few years. Finding the right seat is critical, I went through quite a few and the Waldrop PAC seat was a game changer for me, it does everything well.
Early season I hunt from the trees, once the leaves are gone I move to the ground. Once the snow falls I use my Ghost blind.
The pros are easy no hassle hunting with minimal set up, the down side is where I hunt I can’t see far. It is much harder to draw on deer from the ground which can get very frustrating.
