TAC Events- Recommend or Not???

I know there’s lots of folks that stay right in the venue parking lots with an RV or tent. I only live about 45 minutes away so I do the drive each day. Definitely wear good appropriate shoes. It gets super wet and muddy here in VT in May but rubber boots don’t have enough support to get through the steeps and I usually put on a couple miles a day.
Ooh do they allow you to pitch a tent in those areas? I’d want a little grassland area ideally.

They allow it in VT for sure. Not much for grasslands here but lots of options in the dirt. I’ve never stayed myself so have only noticed the campers and not conditions.

@DooleyVT, do you know is the likelihood of not being able to register when it opens a reality? I don’t want to make plans and book a reservation then not be able to get into the event?. Is thst a possibility?

@woodsdog2 I’ve typically registered on the first day possible and have never had any issues here in VT. There are 15 spots per time slot per course which I think is every half an hour. It tells you how many spots are left per time slot on each course which is helpful if you’re shooting with a group. Groups more than 4 aren’t recommended as they tend to really slow down the course. The most difficult and frustrating part always is trying to coordinate my friends to pick the same time slots on the same course on the same day.

Perfect! And so you have to have a pretty good idea (at the time if registration) with your group the following: Which course, day, and time and the number in your group. Is it realistic to be able to get more than one course in per day?

Yes course, day, and time but you don’t have to make your group during registration. That’s up to you and your group on the day of. I think In VT the lift closes around 2 so if you got in early and down before the lift closes you could shoot down again if you’re up for it. One day of a harder course is pretty taxing at least for us 50+ year olds. We’re talking about trying to squeeze in two in a day ourselves this year but we’ll see how it goes.

I am planning on shooting the San Antonio, TX TAC in late April. It is actually a bit away of a drive from San Antonio, even though the address is still SA. It is actually in only about a 15 minute drive from my house. For any veterans, Randolph AFB is right here close by, and they do have a hotel on base, although I can’t verify availability. Registration opens in 2 days.

They are a good time and worth the time. TAC will get you out of your comfort zone and show flaws. It’s a very mental shoot with no real pressure other than losing an arrow. I recommend them.

Ok so I’m assuming “ Nock Time “ is the time you and your shooting group would begin each course correct?

And it appears one person can sign up or add additional people correct? What is the better way?

Correct.

One person can sign up a group of people and pay for the whole group at once. You'll need everyone's basic info street address, email, DOB, nock times, etc. I only signed up a group of 4 once and it was a PIA. I would say just easier to do it as individuals or 2.

I shot the 7 springs TAC last year alone and eventually paired up with another guy on the course by himself then another. The people ahead and behind us were cool and I don’t think I saw anyone taking it too serious. I’d never done a 3D shoot before and my bow setup isn’t ideal for long shots but had fun shooting out to 60 on the shortest distance course. The second guy that joined us had a recurve and he lost a few but I only came home with 2 less arrows than I started with. I’m signing up again this year, will probably shoot it two days.

I signed up for Sunday morning in Tennessee. Doing the prime course and hope I don’t lose more than a dozen arrows.

Alright it’s been a couple days since I said I went solo last year and nobody has suggested a nock time for the saddlehunter forum so I’m not shooting by myself again. What’s up with that guys?
Ha, we can't sign up until tomorrow at 11am EST (9am MST) my buddy and I are driving down Friday plan on shooting Saturday, probably the "Local Course" first then one of the more challenging courses later Saturday. Don't have times yet because we can't register until tomorrow unless I'm missing something. Our plan is early as possible for the first course. Open to suggestions to some extent.

FYI... I signed up yesterday for VT. Registration opened at 11 and by 11:45 the spots were VERY limited especially for a small group. A couple buddies tried signing up for BRCC on Saturday and it was completely sold out. New sign up structure this year and seemed to fill up very fast!
