Thanks again to this forum for all the help I received in getting started in this. I successfully filled both of my buck tags for 2019 from the saddle and from trees that were not suitable for a hang on or climbing stand.
The last buck was not what I'd call a giant as far as rack goes. But having history with him and pictures for three years in a row and as a mature buck that was on his way down hill it was time to take him. He may have been old but was still the boss in his area and a challenge to get in bow range. He had given us the slip and had never been seen in the flesh from multiple stand where his pictures were captured. But I had a hunch he was hanging close to an overgrown thicket between two draws. So last week I made a move into his core area and did a hang and hunt for the evening sit. He showed but was just out of range. I needed a North wind to get in any closer. I got that yesterday evening. I again did a hang and hunt on the scrape I'd watched him work last week, this time 25 yards away. The problem was a large limb was in my shooting lane to the scrape on my strong side and had no choice but to cut it. Witch later I would find wasn't necessary. In the process of sawing I see deer approaching the scrape and immediately I thought I'm busted. But it wasn't the mature 8 but a younger buck that never knew I was there. I waited until he left and continued my lumber jack duties. Now sweating like hog and thinking I have probably blew the whole sit. I got my trimming copmete with about 45 minutes of daylight left and had started to cool off a bit.
As the sun had just dropped below the treeline I here the distinct sound of a buck trotting through the leaves. As the mature 8 emerges from the east of my position and is fast making his way downwind and to my week side I knew I had to make a move, I grabed my bow and rotated over my bridge, ranged the trail he was on at 25 yards. He would be in a opening to shoot at about my 5 o'clock week side so I pushed out hard on the platform to anchor my lower body drew, anchored and as he stepped into the opening gave a soft bleat to pause him. I settled on the spot and watched the arrow dissapeare in it. He was slightly quartered to me and the entry just clipped the scapula and exit was about the last rib on the off side. He made it about 60 yards from the shot before expiring within sight.
This brings a close to my 2019 saddle hunting season. And I am blessed to have had the chance to discover what I think is the ultimate bow hunting from a tree method and to harvest two mature bucks with a bow using it.

Great story buddy. Congrats on a job well done.
My first saddle arrives in the next 3-4 hours. Not that I’m counting. And I agree that this is the future of deer hunting. Just like climber stands were when I was a young man.
Stay Safe and continue enjoying this great sport.

I'd shoot that deer every day. We are definitely not hunting the same class of deer. That's a beauty. Congratulations!! I was able to tag out last year which was my first year in the saddle..... this year I will dub the year of just not close enough :( I think it's this Gosh Darn buckstashe?
