So I have a history with this buck for the last 4 years, had tons of pictures of him, I have just waited until I felt he was big enough to start chasing. This year he stayed on my cameras all summer as his antlers developed, looking pretty sharp to me. So along comes Sept and I’m just waiting on him to rub his velvet off, some people like killing them in velvet but I prefer hard horn. A week ago I started getting pictures of him and his velvet is hanging, I’m ready lol. Our season in Ky came in this past Saturday and I couldn’t hunt because of work, I’m a pastor and dont hunt Sundays, this buck is showing up every evening about 8 pm. Monday we get a small cold front and an east wind, finished work early and off I go to the woods. I get set up about 4 pm on my new arsenal one stick, which was great I might add, saw nothing but turkeys all afternoon. Several years ago I started self filming my hunts so I was hoping to get him on video, but as the evening drew on I lost camera light and decided to pack away my camera gear and finish the last 30 minutes just watching and hoping! As I look up from zipping my backpack, there he stands looking straight my direction 30 yards, like a ghost that come up from the ground. He heard me, I froze as I anticipated him to disappear, wind was in my favor and being in my saddle with the tree as cover, he settled down, walked over the hill to my left, I ranged the spot, 38 yards, he stops perfectly. I squeezed the shot, wait what happened, all I could see was the green nocturnal glowing through the air, I hear impact and see the arrow sticking in the ground, did I miss , did he duck my arrow just can’t tell. He runs about 50 yards, then dead quiet, a few seconds later he tears out again, then I hear timber breaking. It sounds good but now I’m worried. After reviewing the arrow, blood soaked and looks right, I decide to give him 1 hour, call my son and neighbor and we pick up the trail. Within 20 yards it loos like a massacre had taken place, solid blood everywhere! The track ends about 75 yards in with my target buck belly up in a ditch! Shewwww praise the Lord I got him! I feel so blessed! Thanks for reading and God Bless!!!IMG_3685.jpegIMG_3680.jpegIMG_3677.jpeg
