Team 1 Thread

Headed out to the local WMA tomorrow to do some post-hurricane scouting. Hopefully gather some intel to help gets some points on the board come 10/15.

My season has started off ruff. Opened on the 15th been on 4 bucks. One of which was a good buck and messed it up. Was passing my bow under my bridge and had my pack set up between me and the tree. As my bow passed the broad head caught my pack I was paying attention to the buck now at 20yrds. The arrow pulled from string and fell to the ground the doe he was running pinned me and he had no clue what was going on. She kept stomping and staring at me. He had no clue what her problem was lol it was kinda funny watching him look around then back at her and back around again wile she stared into my sole stomping. I was working another arrow out of the quiver but she was working down wind and eventually got there. She took off blowing he followed and was at 40yrds before I could get one knotched and wasn’t comfortable with the shot. The other three I wasn’t wanting to shoot them they weren’t mature. Ooo well I’ll be back at it this week!

I'm 6'4" and around 290. Played college ball, hurt my shoulder and that ended it.
This is my first year in a saddle, but it will give me so much more access.

Anyone else in the woods today? Ive been ser up for 20 minutes now. First hunt from the saddle!

Does practicing my routine in the backyard count?
Not if it doesnt get us points lol had one walk by me right after i sent that post. Than 15 minutes before legal shooting time i had either a huge doe or a buck walk by. Still too dark to see clearly in these woods

All i will see

this year as deer walk by above their head the points that would be awarded. +5, +13,+11

First hunt tonight with my spurs. Did kind of an observation sit on the edge of a bedding area I got a picture of a really nice buck going through. Was hoping to get eyes on him and move closer tomorrow but I did not. Saw 7 does come out about 100 yards to the north. Moved my cell cam to a little better location and will probably revisit the area during the rut.

Season opened up here today, but I didn't get a sit in. My bow was down for 3 weeks getting fixed, and I just got it back. But, now I have to re-sight it in, and then finish tuning it with the new arrows. Hoping I can get out this week still. Next week is my anniversary, so that's a for sure no-go, but after that, it's on. Hoping someone is getting us on the board!

Tomorrow is my anniversary as well. I didn’t hunt 6 years ago and got married on opening day of 2014.
That is why I got married in September. So it would not interrupt deer season the rest of my life. That was 23 years ago and it is a win/win

If I had done that, I would have messed up my archery elk season. I wasn't in whitetail country yet, and September is bow season back in Colorado. Still...better October than November.

I see your dilemma. I would agree that October was better than Sept. and November. I wish i lived closer to ELk country. I went once and it was an awesome experience. The sound of an elk bugling is one of the best sounds in nature.
