Team 10 Thread

Tomorrow is last day of bow season....doesn't look like I will get out. Next fri/sat/sun is my muzzleloader quota. Really bothers me that I can't use my bow. I'm allowed to drive into the area 24hr prior so I'm going to possibly take a 1/2 day Thur to get out there and look at the parking areas and try to figure where the other peeps are gonna be. I'm really knocking out the house stuff this weekend in hopes of some full days...
Hopefully a little redemption from last year...I had this same quota last year and 1st day fell in the water up to my armpits (but got a personal airshow from a bi-plane that noticed me in my undies up in a tree :)), rained out the following day, and had some non emergency emergency at the house and had to leave on day 3.... sheesh
I had a good encounter with this buck my last hunt in these woods from last year during small game season.....maybe if I'm lucky I can run into him again

Ridiculous you can’t still bow hunt. Hope you get the list all done this weekend and spend some quality time with the wife and fam in preparation for an awesome mz hunt.

I’m heading back to Nashville area today and may even get a quick hunt in tonight to take advantage of this cold front. My cell cams have sent me more deer pics this weekend than the last 2 weeks combined. Weather got em moving. Had these 2 bucks on camera in the spot where I had that encounter with the nice 8. Wind is perfect for this spot today.

I can still use my bow but individual wma have rules that all differ slightly and this particular wma has that dumb rule....I just have iron sights so I don't treat the gun much different than a bow as far as setting up/tree locations. Bow max 25ish muzzleloader 55ish and rifle 100ish... Shooting at an animal a long way off isn't much fun to me...I like to get up close

Had a close encounter with a shooter myself this morning. Had a real nice 8 inside 10yds right at my 3:00. He came out of the underbrush right there, stopped on my tracks and stood there for the longest time. Finally turned and went back the way he came. No shot possible.

Was it a large diameter tree/deer to close to move kinda thing?....I'd be devastated

He was almost straight down and on alert. All I could do was stay still and hope he walked through. Unfortunately he didnt. He walked away under all these beech saplings, no shot opportunity once I was able to swing around the tree. 20211017_090946.jpg

Don’t you hate it when they don’t comply with your set up?! You confident he didn’t spook to hard so you can go back in after him?

Oh yeah. Other than smelling my tracks he had no clue I was directly above him. He just turned and walked calmly out the way he came from. He was close enough when I first saw him I didnt even dare reach for the camera arm to try to get him on video.

Im over 25 ft. It where I needed to be to find some leaf cover in all these telephole pole mature maple and beeches in here. Im sitting in a terrain pinch between a real thick pothole to my east and a draw to my west. Theres a heavy trail running north south through here and I'm 15 yards east of it in the best cover tree. Unfortunately I'm also 15 yds west of the pothole and thats where the buck was moving through. Right along its edge in all that beech scub.

Nose bleed....that's way up there. I'm lucky with our canopy and rarely feel like I need to go more than 15ft.
Maybe tie noose/lasso on the end of ur rope? Hehe
Last night I was at 12ft. All depends on the situation and what the cover/canopy offers. There were some clearings in the beech scrub to the west of me where the trail ran through and that was what I was primarily watching.

This is the first time I’m only about 12-13 feet up. Too many cedars blocking shots if I go higher. Definitely feel a little more exposed down here. But hey I’m just happy traffic cooperated enough to let me hunt tonight! Good luck tonight y’all.

Thx fellas. I’ve still only seen one actual buck on the hoof though (not counting spikes). Starting to get a few more on camera though. It’s about to get good for all of us here.

I looked over my paperwork yesterday and glad I did...I was fixing to take a day off to hunt that I wouldn't be allowed to hunt...hahaha

Sat, Sun, Mon muzzleloader hunt

I went to visit with my parents yesterday evening. Where they live there are deer everywhere and they don't care about people and no hunting. Anyway..... primary feed tree right in the front yard. Scrub oak is dropping and dad is showing me pics from the day prior of 9 does, 2 spikes, and a nice 7 point feeding under the tree at 5oclock in the afternoon all together. I seen the buck bedded out in the marsh....cool to see but frustrating

I know the feeling. I have friends who don’t hunt and always tell me, hunting is not hard. I have deer in my yard every day. Screw you I say.
