Team 10 Thread

I live in a magical place called middle Tennessee (Nashville area) where we have an insane over population of deer. We are allowed to kill 3 antlerless deer per day throughout our nearly 4 month season. Any spikes less than 3 inches count as antlerless. My family does not buy a single ounce of meat in any given year unless we are eating sushi (cuz I suck at fishing).
Next season I am gonna have to come visit lol

Which county are you in? Cheatham?

You’re right about the turkeys! My brother in law tagged out on his own property in Goodlettesville last season. I’ve not been to Bledsoe but I believe it would be loaded with deer!
I'm not sure about hunting around there....Catman said he seen some public close by.....I would take my first kid there when she was little baby in the stroller and walk the trails and let her swing/play at the playground and I would see 20+deer every time I went there...

I always got a good laugh talking with Nashville area locals.....where I'm born and raised (largest city in the USA) u can drive for literally hours and still be in the same city/county....I'd talk with peeps around there and they always complained about having to drive to Hendersonville or hermitage and I'm like....w t f? it's literally a 20 minute drive

I hunt public land on the davidson and Rutherford county lines. I’ve hunted cheatham county WMA before too on the occasional draw hunt. And yes come whack em and stack em here any time. I never even see another person on public during bow season. That’s my favorite time to hunt if you’re interested.

Thought I'd try one more hunt in the area I camp this morning. Forecast was for light rain, no problem. Got up early and drove the 2hrs here to find they have over a foot of wet heavy snow on the ground and nobodys been in. After busting a trail in (good thing I bought new tires this year) I pack up and head in for the hunt. Light fog and drizzle.

Good news, theres still fresh tracks on the migration trail. Pick a tree and get up two sticks and wonder what that light flashing is. Well turns out its lightning. Now I'm sitting here in the truck waiting for the thunderstorm to pass. Thunderstorm in northern Michigan in December??? It just doesnt happen.

I think you must be getting the tail end of a horrific storm that just blew through the south. Record breaking tornado supposedly stayed on the ground for 4 straight states! Take this storm seriously Boyne! We don't need to drop a team member!

We got two of team 10 in the same WMA at the same time, hopefully one of us has some luck! Everyone root for @Weldabeast he’s on an area of rubs searching for a creek buck!

@Fl Canopy Stalker came out and hunted the a.m. with me... He was a man on a mission and he was booking it...I stop to look at some stuff and next thing I know he's outta ear shot...I didn't want to slow him down so we parted ways

I walked around in a low swampy creek area and found hunter sign and sparse deer sign. I checked to see what Stalker was up to and decided to drive to another area in the same block of woods.

As I was walking into that area I heard the crows going crazy so I went to investigate. On the way I see turkeys in some tall grass but they spot me first and fly up into the pines....I made mental note of round abouts where they were and kept going to see what the crows were up to. They were mobbing a great horned owl and as I got close it flew off.... As I stepped back into the road I just caught a glimpse of the turkeys flying down. I looked at the phone and saw a clearing in the direction they were flying and a road that circles around it...I went quickly to the road and made the circle and as I was coming into the clearing area I seen them. 2 gobblers and 6 hens. I got behind whatever was available to hide and when they got behind stuff I ran to the next clump of stuff. The ground was all pine needles so it was quiet to walk. They moved and I moved over and over for 45 minutes. Closest I got was 35ydd and I drew the bow probably 10 times during the whole stalk.. They finally spooked and flew into another block of woods... That was really fun and exciting. That area I was in was small and I covered it all pretty fast and then moved the truck on up to another entrance

I walked in there and right away started finding fresh deer and hog sign. I jumped 2 does and tried to stalk in on them but I wasn't able to locate them again... Walked to an area that looked good on the map and apparently everybody thought it looked good too....keep walking and walking and as it was getting later in the day I jumped up 2-3 deer and I climbed up the nearest tree with good back cover. Sat till dark and seen a couple sets of deer eyes in the head lamp as I was getting down.

I'm not sure how many days I'll get to hunt but I got from dec23-jan3 off ...gotta use up my unused time at work. Wife and my vehicle maintenance and a couple house work thing are all that is really required for me to accomplish during my time off so hopefully will get to hunt a couple consecutive days....single day hunts here and there are difficult

Was able to take another doe with the smoke pole this morning

It was a good time! I think next time I’ll spend the morning scouting like you did and pick a nice spot for an afternoon sit. The spot I found had lots of potential but I probably left 2 or 3 hours before they would move through there. If you get out again let me know. I’ll work the ground with you during the morning (perhaps the turkey or does will can be cut off from escape?) if you’ll allow me to and then find a good aerial view for the evening action!!!

If u would have been with me either u or I would have shot a turkey for sure

2 in one day!? Nice work @Tree2Tree

Yea it was a long night
Two of us got three deer down
We had a 500 yard drag through the thickest nastiest mash I have ever seen in this area
But the deer are there
Seen a total of ten
One was a buck but never came out of the thick fork a shot.
