Team 10

I'm right there with you man. Did it once, years ago and had to sit there and listen to the little one bleating for it's mama. Nope...never again. Call me a wuss or whatever...idc. My shot ,my choice. Glad I'm not the only one..

Definitely not the only one. I had a similar experience before and feel the same way. I also feel like if mama hasn't kicked them out yet, them becoming coyote food is a much higher probability. I don't want to give those muts any more food than what they already get!

My dad has had the same experience. My thought is the does usually get a pass until the spots are gone. Once spots are gone they don't need momma to survive, at least nutritionally.

Couldn't do it. Only doe I had in range last night came out with her fawn. Her fawn still had spots on it. Other ones never came in range. It was any weapon, but I wanted to tag one with the bow to see how my heavy arrow set up does.
The doe I shot last year had milk. She was with two other does, a larger one and a smaller one. I guess the smaller one may have been her fawn but it had no spots so it was probably able to take care of itself. I felt bad anyway.

I had one with milk before. It was mid October. Two came out. The smaller one looked like a 1.5 yr old. Didn't look that small. Not sure what was going on. But was shocked to see that when I dressed her out. If she isn't obviously alone. I'll wait until late November.

Sounds like we all have learned that either firsthand or from a fellow hunter... Hoping we all get enough opportunities to think out our options before taking the shot!

Who is headed out this weekend? I’ll be in Maryland again. I’ve been on auto pilot all day at work, been thinking about deer all day. Lol

Next Thursday, Oct 1 is when we can start. I took Thursday and Friday off. Hoping to whack at least one of these bucks that have been on my cameras.

Yeah. Oct.1st it begins. I thinking of going out the 2nd. Suppose to cool off next week in Mich. Here.

I’ll be out in the morning hunting a funnel between bedding areas with dropping oaks around. Evening will be sitting for Bear. Got 4 different bears on camera but just after last light. Going to set up on a trail they use to get to the bait and hope to catch em before they get there

It would have been right at sunset. Pretty thick in there so it gets dark fast!

It baffles me that you guys have bear down in Florida! Isn't it to warm for them there?
Guess not...they're kinda scattered throughout central and north Florida, but quite a few in the southwest area too. The population is steadily growing and becoming more and more an issue. Had a scheduled week long hunt a couple years ago but the quota, which went unannounced until it was met, was filled on the first day. Then our Fish and Game made the political decision then to not follow the science and staff recommendation to continue hunts so here we are....
