Actually had a jumbo at 10 yards this morning but couldnt get a shot off...Iowa is a special place...
Keep at it, try and hunt those special locations with the wind in your favor...you can burn a location out pretty easy, if you can use the wind and a good temperature drop that's the key...wish you lots of luck brotherWent this morning hunted with my back to the river with wind in my face. Saw 2 river otter, 3 wood ducks, 2 cranes, several fish jumping, 1 owl, and 1 deer couldn't tell if it was a buck or doe. Going to sit the same spot in the morning before work. Just got my thermacell in today so hopefully I won't get ate up again in the morning, don't think I've got enough blood to keep giving away.
After posting last night and actually dozing off at work, I decided the safest bet for me was to give hunting a break until Saturday. I'll be hunting an incoming cold front. Overnight into Sunday morning we'll have a 15 degree drop in temp. I should have a favorable wind to hunt my favorite oak bottom Sunday morning.Keep at it, try and hunt those special locations with the wind in your favor...you can burn a location out pretty easy, if you can use the wind and a good temperature drop that's the key...wish you lots of luck brother
