Slug gun. I’ve never tried bow from it but just sitting in it at my house I still don’t see how I could shoot a bow from it (others have no issues so I just have to do it and see how it goes). Gun I can definitely see it working great

Five does came out about 1200 yards away on the other side of the creek. I couldn’t figure out the holdover for my slugs so I had to let ‘em walk. There was an older guy at my truck when I came out. Turns out last week he was on the other side of the creek from me and saw the deer come out where I was set up last night. Of course they didn’t show last night but that’s probably because I was there. Oh well. He did tell me that historically that’s a very good spot

Looks like the Christmas hunt at home might be my last for the season. Pops has been working on some permission to shoot some late does so hoping to turn that Hail Mary into a touchdown.

Good luck to you guys still getting after it!

Almost got it done this evening sat up about 80 yards down wind of a scrape that i found scouting the day before. Was originally going to set up 20 yards or so from it but decided to move back to have more options of where I thought deer could come out and that ended up being a mistake. Had what I think was a doe and another big body deer come out about 20 mins before end of legal light right where I was going to set up at. They never came my way the doe seemed like she knew I was there. It was a good hunt though and happy I seen some deer. May hunt Christmas eve morning depending on weather but I did get the green light to hunt a few hours Christmas morning when the cold front comes in. I've got pics of bucks and does the morning of a cold front comes in unfortunately its always while I'm working. So I'm pretty confident if the wind is good ill have something on the ground Christmas morning. Good luck to everyone.

No additional points. However we really needed another one for the freezer.

Got out this morning in the lovely lake effect snow and single digit wind chills of southwest Michigan. It was nice to walk into the woods with my old man again, been a long time!

I saw one buck shortly after first light, and unfortunately its doe only tags. He passed at 25 unbothered.

Happy holidays everyone! Hope you’re all enjoying time with loved ones this time of year.

Merry Christmas to the team. I tried to get out and get us a Christmas buck this morning. 19 degrees here in north GA and needless to say, this southern boy is not built for that haha. Had a little button buck come out and 7:10. Hung around for almost 45 minutes. That’s a long time to not move at least a little bit and I was frozen. Had to call it quits. Plus it was time to head inside and do Santa stuff. Hope everyone’s day is blessed!

Went and sat a spot on public that I sat earlier this season in mid October, tucked up on the westward side of a bedding area. Last time I saw a decent buck come out at sunset but was a little too far out of range.

Almost like clockwork the same buck comes out of the same spot at the same time (sunset) and does the same exact thing by crossing a creek and standing statue still for about 10 mins scanning, and then heads off in the exact same westward direction he did last time.

The only difference between now and then was tonight was a NW wind, last time was a south wind. I'm considering going back tomorrow evening and setting up on top of his exit, however the forecast for tomorrow is an east wind (super rare this time of year). Not sure whether to hit a different piece of public and come back on a more familiar wind or not.

He's not a monster by any stretch of the imagination, but from what I've seen he looks like a mainframe 8. Worst case scenario if I screw it up this season I can come back next year when he's bigger and seal the deal.

Thoughts?

As long as you have the correct wind go kill him. Doesn't sound like a east wind is ideal at the least, and more than likely to bump him trying to get set. Of course that is what I gathered from a handful of words, without ever seeing a map, access, terrain, boots on ground, etc. Personally if I'm on a trail I prefer a cross wind if I can get it.

Well haven’t been able to hunt in what feels like a long time but it’s only been a couple weeks. Headed out of town for a trip and was told we fly out Saturday so was excited to get to hunt all day Friday. Well we actually fly out Friday so that shoots a hole in that plan. I’m going out this morning for a short 4 hour sit before work. Only looking to upgrade!

Good luck to anyone else still hunting. Y’all make sure to get your does and we should be able to take second!

Either way happy new year!

The rut is on here. I leave tomorrow morning to head to north Louisiana.

Good luck to you guys going out who still have an open season, I'm so jealous. I started the count down till my season opener, nine months two weeks...

Season closes today for me but it’s going to be in the 60s so doubt much moves. That’s 20+ degrees warmer than yesterday
