Team 13 Thread

Added 5 more for us this morning. Had the craziest morning I've ever had in a saddle. I lost count of the deer I saw. I was surrounded for well over an hour, my arm started getting sore because I never had a chance to put my bow down. Finally, shot this gal while sniffing my arrow from the one that ducked 20 min earlier. :)

Happy to be part of the team! This is my first year in the contest.

Would love to hear where you guys live and any additional states you hunt in?

I live and hunt in PA - mostly the state forest mid-state but also hunt September in MD and hunt the rut in Ohio.

I definitely hunt around home but I get to hunt Ohio a little, and Virginia a little, and I really want to make it back down to West Virginia.
I've been trying to get to Kansas but for the last fews year something seems to come up when it's time to apply.
I have buddies from New York that go to Kansas and Iowa and they say the deer are like cattle...
They shoot big bucks out there every year. They seldom get anything here in Pa. Hahaha

About to spend every morning this week walking around looking for deer and acorns

I'm finally able to do some scouting now that I'm 'free to roam'.
There are acorns everywhere this year. Tonight veered to my left a little to check under a giant white oak righton the edgeof a nastyswamp, the ground was just covered with acorns. There was 1 set of deer tracks under that tree...
There's soo many acorns the deer can eat as much as they want - anywhere they want.
Yesterday I took a walk back to an old homestead that has a bunch of apple trees around. It was pretty much the same scenario, tons of apples and nowhere near as many tracks as I would have thought.
Most years when there's a good crop of apples back there it looks like a pig pen under those trees.

It's the same way here, acorns are everywhere. I hunted this morning in a little patch of White oaks in the middle of a several clear cuts. I almost didn't hunt it because there wasn't much sign that deer were feeding there. However, I was covered up in deer all morning. They were just walking around picking them off the top of the leaves and didn't have to dig in the leaves at all to find them. You couldn't even tell deer had been there.

I'm glad somebody has acorns. They are pretty thin everywhere I've looked so far. Persimmons are completely gone. Not sure what them boogers are eating but judging by the numbers I've seen on the roadside heading the the launch they're getting hungry.

Once you find what they’re eating you’ll be in business.
We need some points... lol

Pretty sure that cancels out to zero…….

Pretty sure you only lose points when you miss with sights. Dust off that crazy long recurve you have this year and you'll see what I mean.

it’s seen the woods twice. Just walked in with it, in fact. Had 2 does at 22yds, but 22 recurve yards might as well be 100 right now

I’m comfortable inside 15. That won’t expand this season. I was set up for 8, 4 and 12 yard shots this evening, but the crusty things did everything backwards on me and nothing came within the 15 range I’ve limited myself to.

Congrats, my man, nice killing

I saw you had killed one and thought I’d drop in and recognize

Opening day is Saturday here...

^^^ That’s just the first load of stuff that is getting washed...
3 saddles, rappel ropes, bino harness, backpack. You name it, it's getting thrown in... hahaha
I can’t wait!

Opener in some parts of Alabama today. Riding up the road to hunt that zone this evening.

What sucks is I've seen a decent little buck twice on the same oak tree. No telling if he'll be there 2 weeks from now when our season opens locally. :/

Good luck!

I thought you were gonna try trophy hunting this year?
Stop thinking about the "decent little buck"...
