Team 15 discussion thread

My season starts September 28th when I'm headed to Ohio to hunt the bow opener weekend with my brother. Looking like a weekend without the saddle unfortunately due to the setup of the farm we're hunting (deer camp rules, pre-set ladder stands and box blinds). Then back to Massachusetts where we open on October 7th in my zone. Shooting back to Ohio on October 9th for a family reunion, and planning on hunting there until the 13th and will be in a saddle the whole time. May get a trip up to Maine around Thanksgiving to track bucks in the snow during their rifle season. If I still have an Ohio tag, I may meet up with my brother again for muzzleloader season in early 2020.

Excited for the fall and looking to put a deer or two on the ground from the saddle!

I plan to do some "Live from the saddle" posts on this thread to document my season.

What are everyone else's plans?

Western IL; we open on the 1st of Oct. Plan is to kill does and hunt calcium! I will hunt the state parks where I live the first few weeks. Found a local spot by talking with the owner which I will hunt through the end of Oct.

2nd week of Nov is vacation and will plan hunts on state ground farther from home. Will run up to the "home farm" some also.

I need to finish washing and drying, treating and storing the season's clothing.

Best of luck all; Be safe and enjoy the bounty of the great American Outdoors.

I’ll be mostly bow hunting public in southeast La. Hoping to go to Nat. forest up near Arkansas line for primitive weapon and maybe again for rut. I’ve never killed a buck with my bow but I’m sure gonna try hard this year!!

Michigan hunter here. Currently living on the west side of the state, I've got permission on a property about an hour south of where I live. I'm planning on hunting there early in the season (October). I've had a camera out there for the past few months - went to check on it and prep some trees a couple weeks ago and found the SIM card must have been formatted incorrectly, bummer! I know there is 1-2 nice bucks hanging around that property (based on pictures after season last year).

Also have some family land on the east side of the state. My brother and I (different team) have been doing some food plots this summer. Have soybeans, clover, winter wheat, brassicas, turnips, and a screen plot planted. I'll spend a couple weekends and the rut there. Should be a fun year!

I will be hunting public land in SE Wisconsin. Season opened here last weekend but I spent it out of town for a funeral on Saturday and out of town for a baby reveal party on Sunday. Circle of life.

It is going to be warm this weekend (80) for late September in WI but I’ll be out Saturday for my first hunt of the year. Good luck to each of you!!!

We found it. Big deer for SC. 218 lb 8 point. We had been watching him for 5 years. And I just got a call from my wife saying she just stuck a big buck when I was dropping the kids off at school. I am happy for them, but it’s my turn now

First sit of the year for me this morning. It was 66 degrees and humid with 3mph wind out of the south. At 6:45 a youngish 7 pointer snuck in on me to 20 yards and put on the breaks when he saw my sticks on the tree. He did the head bob stare down from 2 different spots about 10 yards apart for 10 minutes trying to figure out what was different today before winding me and sounding the blow horn 3 times. I was at full draw twice but didn’t have a clear shot. I learned 3 lessons: 1. Do a better job of picking trees while scouting. 2. Listen to the voice in your head when it is saying the setup is not right. 3. Hang the blasted climbing sticks on the back of the tree where they are not going to draw attention.

All in all, a great first sit. I don’t intend to be very picky this year since it is the first year in a saddle. Getting better at finding them and having a blast hunting them but still need a lot of work towards killing them.

Well you got the hard part figured out it sounds. If your learning something every time your winning.

Went to a different piece of public for my afternoon sit. Light rain and 73 degrees with a wind out of the south at 10mph. Saw a doe and yearling. Checked my camera and had Some pictures of the one I’m after. I was set up about 180 yards from the bedroom so will eget in a little closer next time. There are acorns all over this parcel so he doesn’t have to go more than about 75 yards for a before dark snack.
