Team 2 BB - Bambi Blasters

Thanks! No luck today. Plenty of shooting off to my east though.

Also the weather looks to offer plenty of suck for tomorrow, I'll be trying it again.

What I lack in skills and knowledge I make up for in poor decision making :tearsofjoy:
I resemble that remark! Keep after it and it'll come together!

We're just warm weather Bambi blasters! It's just a lull, we started strong and we'll finish strong. We're just "resting up"

I am going to give it my damnedest to blast a Bambi. Heck I may buy a license up at my parents in PA if I see one on their property but that's a long shot. Bringing the mini to play with so might as well keep a few broadhead tipped arrows with me and could throw the saddle in the truck as well lol looks like I'm packing another bag

Bed, scrape? Aliens? Several tracks In the snow here. Open woods north, looks like pines south. Lots of 3-4 trees and smaller right here.

Bed, there is another with only one set of tracks.

Good info/sign but I'm not sure how to hunt it. I thought I was headed to food bedding

Well I found more beds. Looked like maybe a little feeding sign.

I had the beginnings of what might eventually turn into a plan on my way home... maybe

The farm I hunt the rancher gave me permission to go heavy. I’m trying to square that with my principles and convince myself to do it. I can see the bottom of my freezer but it still feels wrong

You can do it!!! Can you get where you need to be with out bumping? Seems big problem this time of year is being spotted long before I see them..

Thanks for the encouragement! I'll admit it's been a grind lately and the demons of doubt get to me sometimes.

I agree, it's pretty tough now with all or nearly all vegetation gone, I'm a big danger sign out there.

I'm not 100% on where I need to be yet, but I do think I have a lot better idea. I checked onX, guessed where the trail(s) would take me and was pretty pleased with the results.

So I think I know the casual hangout/ bedding areas. I know 100% where water is, well there's a river so safe bet. All the little water holes are frozen that I know of or seen in the last week, so flowing water should be where it's at.

And I *think* I know where and what they're eating.

Guess what I'll be obsessing over all week?

Nicely done! I realized this weekend that I'd forgotten some venison in the fridge so had to put it in the trash instead of the freezer. Fire to shoot another is now blazing hot hellfire lol

Did you drag? How far? How'd you find him? The mostly deskbound among us (well I guess at least me) thirst for details lol
Ok. So. Ill give the story. I had a doe come through then a four point. He wouldn’t give me a shot. So he comes out of the bedding area just like he is supposed to. Well he hangs up at 27yards because the thicket is alive with chasing. He is quartering away. I let it rip. He tries to duck it. Well he caught the arrow in the back of the head at the base of the skull. DRT. I leave the logging road at 1.5 miles. Then down the ridge 125. Well I grabbed him like would and we’ll I couldn’t put enough on the left foot to move him. So I took my 20 foot of rope. Tied it around the horns. Go to the end sit down pull him too me. Repeat for 125 yards. Then I tied said rope around my waist and used my trekking sticks to dig and headed down hill.
