Team 2 BB - Bambi Blasters

Nice! I've got a couple pictures lately but haven't seen one.

I did see 2 does this morning. Weak side and in thick stuff so no shot. Most action I've had since 10-15. Still hoping to get one more, the clock is ticking though
Saw a few. To far away. Getting ready to come down. Neighbor guy to the back started cutting wood. Saw one go running thru. Heard the other coming. Figured since I was getting down might as well help control the predator population.

Just let this guy walk for about the 6th time. He has potential for next year.

plus when these are your 3 Hit Listers….
I’ve had encounters with the Drop Tine buck and Big 12. 40 and 35yds on 2 different occasions during gun season. But I’m determined to shoot one with my long bow. The grind is starting to get to me. If I’ve had an hr to give I have gave it while in a Tree Saddle. I need some luck boys and girls. I’m getting tired.

Your a better man than me. I’d be slinging sharp sticks

Good luck @sdorton !! I got a few pictures of does in a new area. Hopefully I can put something together! Good young, maybe, is I think I've got a morning spot and and afternoon spot so hopefully that works out!

Well, the team dunce checking in. I went to get my one camera. It's been dead for oh a month or so. Parking I thought " you should have brought your bow" - this was an in and out mission but you never know. Wouldn't you know my bow has been riding around with me for months, until last night.

There was a doe feeding right under my camera. Stopped looked at me from 40 , I've been practicing @40, and goes back to browsing.. after a few minutes she moseyed up the hill. So I came in, figured I'd bump her out. There was another one to my left on the peninsula! And another on top of the hill!

D'oh!

I am pretty sure everyone has a story like this.

Well. Since my daughter put one down and the freezer is getting maxed out. I know my hunting has slowed down some. I may get a few more sits in the saddle. So if I shoot at anything it will be big points.
How are you guys doing? Tapped out? Any more big plans? Just coming on?

I am stewing not being able to get out any time soon but plan to hunt as soon as I can (whenever that is, likely the week between Christmas and new years ugh so far off). My plan is to get after it whenever I can and keep that mentality through the end of January/end of season. Weather shouldn't be a limiting factor so navigating the holidays and my impending separation are the biggest thing. And keeping my job/kids alive.

I'm pretty well burnt out but I'm going to take my bow where I seen them last night, tonight and hopefully they're back. Hunting private Saturday afternoon. I'll be out some where Sunday too. I'm going to stick with it on weekends at least through the month ( end of season here)

I came back to where my camera was. Forgot my saddle lol in a blowvdown today

Whoops I let my green bar lapse, gotta turn that back on here... Alrighty it should be restored, nothing to see here folks, move along, these are not the droids you are looking for...

I got a doe Saturday afternoon. Gun, from the ground. Got in the saddle after that and seen a couple fawns and a doe but no shot opportunity. Private sure is different than public!

Let another NICE 8 walk the other day. But he's a young one with potential....I have plenty of meat so I'm not killing a buck just to be killing one. It has to be one of my 3 mature bucks for me to shoot one. Still grinding it out until I kill one of them or season ends.

I'm going out Saturday. I have no game plan yet, but I'll be in the woods. Likely returning to the same general spot where I missed that beauty of a buck exactly two months ago. I don't expect him to be in the same spot, but the saddle/peninsula/clearing combo seems like a pretty deer-y transition spot at any point of the season? So we shall see what I see.

Making up a game plan as I type, may drive in just before light and take a hour or two to slowly walk in and see what I can see from the ground, before potentially picking a tree to climb. Any opinions on mornings this time of year? It's raining all day today, should be highs low 40s, lows 20s-30s for the next few days. Main reason I want to visit this same spot is it's forecast to be a West wind, and that works really well for access, my scent will get blown out over the water instead of up into the woods.

I want to move my cameras as well (basically out of the area I was hunting early season to this area I discovered in October, but that requires parking in a different access to retrieve them. Perhaps I'll run over there mid day, not sure. Decisions.

Move slow and look for sign is what I would do. If you find something good, hunt it. If you check your cameras, make sure you take your weapon. Late season always seems weird.

Oh yeah I'll have my bow with me for the camera run for sure if I do it. I think I've made my mind to actually still hunt my way in, and not cheat and walk faster or take extra steps like I always seem to do. It'll be a good test of can I do that in the fanatic bibs without sweating if I'm slow enough. I'll likely fail and get sweaty so bringing a second base layer and changing after the camera run is likely the solution

I'm not sure this is sound advice... if you want to see some deer leave your weapon at home :tearsofjoy: see post 546 ...
