Team 2 Thread

Daughters home sick and we're waiting for the wu-flu results. Regardless, I probably won't be heading north this weekend and may head out to Carlos Avery for a local, public land hunt. If she does have the shanghai shivers, I'll have to be quarantined for 14 days as well. My thinking is what better way to quarantine than in the woods hunting every day.
good luck (on both) hopefully she doesn't have COVID, hopefully you have success hunting. I'm headed out saturday to the same area I shot my first doe a few weeks ago. she was running around with a yearling? fork horn. i decided to shoot her last time because he wasn't that big. we'll see if i have the same self control if i see him again.

as an aside- i've throught spike bucks = 1 year old = no forking. is it possible this velvet fork horn was a 1.5-2 yo? or can they actually get some points on first growth sometimes? or do forks/ additional tines only appear year 2 or later?

edit: did some googling. he's 1.5. now the great debate (if i see him again) let him walk or no? i hope to be forced into that decision ASAP.

Shoot him! I would but I am in an antler restriction zone...only been out once since season opened but I’ll be at it this weekend!

Welp, most likely no trip north this weekend.

Just got an email that the test sample was received but it could still be another 24-48 hours for results. So, it looks like I need to swap my tag to the local public land zone and hunt there this weekend.

sorry your plans are changing, i fully understand how kids are awesome but can impact the lifestyle, mine are 3 and 5

yeah, I was mainly joking though can see how only I got that one given the poor delivery... any legal deer within my shooting range is on the menu for me whenever I go out, contest or no contest. I need more practice! Team 2: if it's brown it's down. more meanings than one lol

I think most of us are living vicariously through y’all, so y’all keep getting after it lol

Daughters test is negative. Kicked her butt out the door to school and I'm packing to head north.
glad to hear it, we went through the same thing with a round of negative tests after they brought home something else from school last week. go get em! my wife asked me this morning "you're waking up really early tomorrow, right" to which i gleefully replied "yes!"

Had a spike coming in at 7:40 this morning. He busted me shifting to my weak side for a shot. Didn’t blow out, just backtracked a bit and then skirted me through cattails.

Got a little rain coming at midday, so grabbing some lunch and coffee before heading back out.

Had a fawn playing in the water less than 10 yards from. Had a few other does trot through without a shot. Then completely missed another doe at 30 yards.

Gonna sit in the same spot tomorrow morning then decide if I want to move.

Forgot to adjust my slider sight from 30 to 20 and end up sending an arrow over a does back :expressionless:...saying that I am in the market for a 3 pin site

Been there. I still shoot a single pin slider though. Check out Montana black gold sites, they have a 3 pin slider so you could probably have the best of both worlds. I’m sure other companies probably have the same thing, but I like my MBG site.

The bowhunting stuff is fun but aggravating. With my shotgun, I could’ve had several deer last weekend and tonight. It’s encouraging though that I had several within 20 yards. I wasn’t prepared for the last 4 but at least they were there.

I’m dropping the ball. Bow opens tomorrow and for the first time on a long while I won’t be hunting at all opening weekend. Kids sports, family party, and going to the browns game on Sunday. I work Monday-Thursday next week then have a week off plan on hitting it hard.. good luck to everyone this weekend.
