Team 3 2019

kinda wish we had the option of a second buck though. I'd pay 100$ for a optional second buck tag....

We get one tag up here. Buck anywhere in Ontario or a doe in 1 unit if you draw it. So one tag*. Total. For the whole year. Period. Fawk @!!@)#*(&#)!!!

* there are a limited number of additional tags is select units but practically speaking they might as well be unicorns

I....I.... I really dont know how to respond to that. We dont have all dressed chips down here but we sure got tags available....
Boy do we ever... and I can't seem to fill any of them lol. Was out Tuesday morning and had 5 come by around 35-40 yards, at a trot, and with no shots. My dad ended up getting to shoot one of them but not me. Back to the grind

Anybody still at it? I'm out of town this weekend so won't be able to get out. I will be out Tuesday though. Currently a chance of snow Monday night into Tuesday so I'm getting excited about that. IMO, nothing better than hunting in the snow

I'l be taking the shot gun for a walk tomorrow for the last day of shot gun season. I'll do some scouting during the day and do a saddle stand in the evening.

1st shotgun ended in Iowa earlier this week, only got to hunt a couple days with no luck. Have to wait till the late split archery if I am going to go again this year. Time to spend time with the family for a little while. Good luck to the guys going out.

OK thanks guys.
- I have a reputable bow shop near by with a range
- I won't wade into the fixed vs mechanical debate yet. I have been shooting fixed blade broadheads successfully up to this point...
- I am familiar with the differences between the releases you are talking about, but this is all pretty foreign to me at this point
- My budget is flexible - I can make this project go. I won't buy a Cadillac, but I avoid low grade gear.

Suggest a couple of bows that I can start researching.
I shoot a Bow Tech, but I shot Elite, and PSE in the past. Love em all.

Started some post season scouting yesterday in Pennsylvania. Went into a spot that I really wanted to check during archery but never made it because I had my Pa buck down early. Man I regret not hanging a camera in there to catch the rut movement..

Gotta say that I have really changed how I hunt and how I think about scouting since I started using the hunting beast and SH. I have never in my life had the opportunity to take let alone see as many bucks as I have in the past 2 seasons.... 5 2yr bucks in 2 years. I truly feel that I have started putting myself in better positions by continuing to learn from every hunt... I have a long way to go because every "mature" or call it quality buck had me pinned.... but they taught me what I was doing wrong, so there's that.. good luck to all who still have tags and time to hunt, remember to enjoy it while it lasts. Merry Christmas and happy hunting!!

Walked in in the 35 degree rain yesterday on a new spot. Saw some eyeballs along the way about 3/4 of the way back. Had one deer to the left of me, one up in front of me, and one bedded to the right. The one in front of me walked at me to about 15 yards and then broadside across the trail to circle around me. Too bad it was 5am. I should have set up there and thought hard about it but I wanted to get to the back of this piece so I could see the lay of the land and check out everything on my daylight walk out. Continued back and saw zilch while in the tree. Took a very long scouting walk out and kicked up a little buck and a couple does. Found some great beds with a ton of deer crap. All in all a good day but nothing to show for it. Hopefully it leads to future success.

Couldn't agree with all of that more. The beast and saddle hunting have totally changed how I hunt. I haven't had the results I want this year but I have the last few. I put on a bunch of miles scouting yesterday and I know I wouldn't have if I had some sort of stand on my back instead of my saddle.

Been away for awhile.
Good news,... bad news.
Good news: After a long hard season, I got a nice doe on 12/10/19 during our muzzle loading season.
Bad news: I was still hunting.
I may still be able to get out again and give it one last try.
Good luck to anyone still in the game.
