Team 3 2019

It sounds like you've got a great plan laid out. Also, I can't speak for the others, but don't apologize for the tactics talk. I live for these convos and having them could lead to you putting points on the board for us. This is my first year in the SH contest but from other contests I've been in I feel like that's the best part of the team. Getting input from others and getting it done. Good luck and keep us posted!
X2, I think that what were doing falls right in line with what these threads are for. Teams discussing how to get points on the board!!

GO TEAM 3!!!!!!! Now let's get in there MJH and knock down a hog for the Bruins. hahahahaha hahahahahahaha!

Well Good morning to you too. I'm working today, It was a beautiful morning up here in MA. Wished I was hunting. Congrats on the doe. You could have a tenderloin and eggs brunch.

Congrats on the doe. Buck movement picking up here in VA. I went to a public land with a buddy on Thursday for the first time and saw close to 30 deer. Saw a nice 8 pointer cruising the woods at around 2pm while I was finding a good place to climb and hang for the evening. He was 50-60 yards away and I couldn't get him to come to me. Wind was swirling bad and gusting up to 25mph. Had a doe and her Fawn come give me a 12 yard shot at around 5:00, she was vocalizing with her Fawn and licking it's nose.. I love deer meat and love shooting my bow but passed on her. Blame my parents for letting me watch Bambi as a kid, cause no way I'm shooting momma doe in front of Bambi. I'll still be working of getting Team 3 some points, gonna head back out Monday-Thursday

Finally have some time to get back out! Only have the morning to hunt but hitting it anyway. Warm front moving in, southerly winds aren't promising... still dont care hitting it anyway! Not expectations, just gonna work my way into an area that I haven't been into yet. It sets up well for the wind tomorrow. Anyway, for anyone heading out good luck, let's get some more points up there!!

How'd it go?

Looks like we're in 7th in the standings. I should be out Saturday AM looking to add to our score.

OK random info.
I have moose hunted with 3 different groups over the last 7 years. There have been some encounters and chances, but in those years we have not harvested an animal - while disappointing, I can get over that. This year I hatch a new plan to go on a fly in with 3 of my close buddies. As things work out, we don't draw a tag so we put the trip off till next year. Two of the other groups I previously hunted with drew tags and called me to ask if I wanted to go up. I declined because of work/fam/baloney - there was no reason really not to go I just had my heart set on the fly in.

Well opening day up at the Thunder Bay camp, the dudes shot a 49" bull and a cow. Then Sat, opening day in the southern region (near Algonquin Park), my other group dropped a cow and calf.

Moral of the story - if you get invited to go hunting, go hunting. FAWK!!

All while you were sitting at home, naked on a bean bag chair, eating cheetos..... hahaha

There's good fishing in Quebec!

Back at it again... haven't much time over the past week or so.. clear, sunny day south west winds, not exactly ideal conditions but you take what you get and hunt anyway... Bumped a small buck and three does on the way in.. 12 gobblers worked through about 45 mins ago, almost had a shot at one, that's been nice.. well off to GREAT start again today, let's see what evening brings me!

Well, had an somewhat eventful evening. Saw 7 total, 2 bucks 5 does. I bumped a 2yo 8pt on the way in, but he didnt know wha the happened, I think he only heard me. So i set on the windward side of a finger ridge that buck have been working, in the Hope's that he'd get moving early and start working the scrapes. About 6pm here come a buck doing exactly that only it was a slammer 10pt. Real good buck. He made his way to 40 yards, and was on a track to be broadside at 28yds, but at that 40yd mark, he didnt like something. He stopped and stood for 13 minutes without moving more than his ears. He wasnt stating at me but in my general direction. My wind was good, so it wasnt that, I was already set to take a shot, so I wasnt moving. It was like he sensed something. After the long pause he turned and made his way past at 65ish yards never giving me a shot that I'd be comfortable with. I really cant explain the reason for him acting that, but he definitely knew something was up, or maybe he'd had a hunter encounter near where I was before, it is public land. I wasnt all that disappointed as I did not a buck like that was in the area. Now, I am disappointed at the fact I cant hunt until late next week, now that I know hes out there moving with enough time left to get at him....

Been one step behind the bucks this year it seems.... filling a WV tag is gonna take alot out of me this year.. and my wife lol. I've gotten cocky over the past few years with my relative success early in the season, I think I let that notion take hold a bit. Now comes my true test as a hunter, can I make the adjustments needed to get one on the ground before rifle season?

Those old boys do seem to have a 6th sense. It's crazy. I bet that 13 minutes felt like hours. Good luck getting back after him!

I was able to get out this morning. I had 2 bucks, one at 8:05 am and the other at 8:28 am. Both cruzin. Both were just out of range. Neither one responded to the call. It's good to know I'm able to get on them. Hopefully it's just a matter of time
