TEAM 3 - BARK BUSTERS

Well I hope everyone is doing well. I spent my last Friday off catching two bats and doing batproofing in my attic and I didn't get any hunting time in that day. Saturday I went out muzzleloading with my buddy - we saw plenty of does and two coyotes but no bucks.

The last muzzleloading season is this weekend. I won't get to hunt Friday because of work but Saturday and Sunday afternoon I plan to be out. To be honest, I have never had any luck hunting gun season or muzzleloader season. The second half of October into the first two weeks of November seems to be prime here in Illinois. After that activity really seems to fall off. Bucks disappear and does are constantly on edge.

Any tips? Hopefully I can get onto something good this weekend.

I posted in the LFTS thread last week but I got to hunt only the morning Saturday and had 6-8 does and yearlings come in to 7 yards. The lead doe busted me as I went to draw. I was t set up high enough and they skylines me I believe.

My season has been kind of shot with being so busy and not getting to go much. On top of that the land I hunt is closed Sunday and I haven’t ventured to surrounding land that is. The positive is that I’m seeing deer on almost every sit, which makes it very enjoyable.

I have been getting some small bucks on camera, all of which I’d be happy to take. They’re still together but scrapes are popping up everywhere so they should be getting going here any day.

I wish I had more daylight photos to share, but alas! I found a good travel cooridor, I’m hoping I’ll be able to capitalize on during the rut. We can’t end up in last! Who has season left that hasn’t scored yet? I need to put some on the board too even if I have to take out the compound.

Our regular firearms season ends Tuesday then we have a late ML/Bow/XBow season then a late holiday season hunt from the 26th-1st (bow, Xbow and ML only. Not sure why they don’t just leave it open through to the 1st but ths the rules. I am going to try and get out after the regular season is over. I went out this pm and didn’t see a deer.

I didn’t see didly squat today. Thought the cold would have em moving but almost looks like it had the opposite effect.
