TEAM 3 - BARK BUSTERS

My season started about 10 days ago, I still haven’t gotten out yet. I’ll get out soon & handle business. We just moved into our new place, getting settled & unpacked. For the first time in my life I can hunt on my place & have a few acres of river bottom.
Congratulations on your new place. And a place to hunt to boot, that’s great!

Glad to be on the team.
I’m in AR. Our season starts this weekend, but I’ll be hunting KS for the next 2 weekends.
I’m in it for the fun. As Warren Womack says, I’m an equal opportunity shooter lol.
I’ll be carrying the stick bow after these 2 trips to KS. Haven’t had as much time as I would have liked lately.

Howdy boys! It's looking like it's gonna be a hot one (+90 degrees!) for our October 1st opener down here in Texas. I'll be hunting mostly private family land in Austin county between Seal & Bellville. Not much time to hunt public with a 1 year old. I took a decent 8 point by bluebonnect country standards last year out of the Cruzr XC. This year I plan to hunt a kill plot as conditions allow, it's planted with oats, chicory, and red clover, it's my first food plot ever so we will see how it does. No target bucks yet as our property hunts best during the rut as we have several resident does but no resident bucks. They should start to show up the middle of October, hoping I can tag a doe with the bow before then. Best of luck to those already started and patience for those of us who have a wait!

Chicory, clover, and oats is a good mix for a food plot. I've been planting chicory, winter rye, and clover for years and it works great.

I choose to use rye over oats because rye is drought tolerant, grows in poor soil conditions, and can germinate in really cold temps. It is also cheap.

Good luck!

When is season opener for everyone? Mine is October 1st. I'm chomping at the bit to get out.
SEP 13 for me right now - in Kansas for the next few weeks. Been out there gettin it in… passed a decent 8pt the other night, but just not quite what I’m looking for.
As soon as I can find someone to take some deer meat I’ll get that doe tag filled — sucks living out of a hotel for 12 weeks.

This is what ran through one of my primo spots today!!!! I swear we have more pressure from surrounding neighbors than on public!!!!!

Headed to the hunting cabin this weekend, gonna be getting after em pretty hard. Mostly trying to put my wife on her target buck because mine has been hard to find so far. I did just gain access to a new hunting spot that looks amazing. I’m excited for this season!

The first video I have on my trail cam this year is of my neighbor's two dogs... I try not to bother him too much about it because he is a senile old man but he lefts me recover deer off his property with no issues

Yeah it not even actually the neighbors dog. These are two farms next to each other. I have permission on both but rarely hunt the neighboring property of my primary hunting area because in the past these folks don’t really hunt themselves but do allow other family, friends and whomever to hunt and some of these people are incredulous. When I sent my buddy who owns the fsrm
That same picture he said there was another guy parked on a lane that provides access to this adjacent property and we recognized his vehicle as someone who was probably scouting etc. why he took his dog who knows. I take my dog in the off-season but not running up to hopefully somewhat patterned deer just before the opener. The other side of this property is public. Some years it’s a Mecca with nobody really hunting but the last couple of years way more pressure. Oh well that’s life!!!

I have some cameras on some suspected acorn feed trees. How often would you like to see does munching on that one particular bunch of trees to decide to hunt it? Every day? Twice a day? Every other day?

Hunt it if they're on a routine. Even every other day is a pretty decent pattern.
