Team 3 Rules

No points but kid had his final baseball game of fall ball and it went long so time was short. He has no attention span so perfect time for him to sit with me. We jumped two does under stand on the way in but one returned about a half hour later. Kid was working on convincing me to shoot the doe when I caught glimpse of antler working a scrape. Took him a good 15 minutes of eating acorns to finally clear and give a good shot. It’s my first kill with kid with me so it’s kind of special for a not so special buck. I didn’t even have time to change and kid still has eye black on from the game.

Looks like a great buck and even better to share with your kid. Congratulations!!!

Nothing but a single spike all day today. Warming up the next couple of days so I’m likely not hunting. Good luck to all!

I had a hell of a day. Went to honey hole close to home. I could hear deer next my tree as I approached and had to one step my way in. Had deer bedded on both sides of me and saw them wandering about. No shot opportunities. Pulled out around 9’as the wind was starting to shift into the bedding area.

Explored a potential pinch point for the rest of the day. While still hunting and scouting 2 bears came along… without time to range them I slung an arrow at one and missed low. Yes, today was the opening of the second bear season.

Sat pinch point at the top of a steep drainage in the evening and had a fawn hang out under me for a few hours.

I saw lots of animals, was in the game all day and had some major revalations about deer movement in the region. And, found a very cool shed antler in the dark on the way out. A great day in the deer woods.

Yesterday I found a pocket of deer and found a way to get in close to them. Saw several does but no bucks. This am I snuck back in and watched 4 does work their way in to bed, followed by a 4 point. I’m set up about 100 yards down wind of them and hope a buck will circle. If I don’t have any action by mid afternoon I’ll try and slip over to catch them feeding back down the hill. I have high hopes for today. So long as the wind stays fairly consistent…

Well fellers Ohio public trip kicked my hide, saw lots of sign, very few deer. The other guys had a few encounters and one Brother managed a nice 9 point. All 8 of us walked in to where he was, quartered him up and packed him out, it was a really great trip and I walked untelling how many miles lol! No points for the team yet but I’m hunting hard the next few weeks here at home! God Bless

Saw a doe and later a 5pt this morning. Ten minutes I got up this afternoon I heard walking and then saw a doe. Kept hearing walking but she wasn’t moving but never saw the other and she ran back into the thick pretty quick. Hoping they come back out of there soon

Fingers crossed everyone. Just pulled trigger on my target buck. Odd position and with ML can’t see crap to know. Didn’t see or hear him crash but he made a ruckus getting out of there. He had ran a doe by me 4 times before I finally got a shot and feel I rushed a little

YES!!!!! congrats!

If I had a ML I probably would have dropped my target buck tonight too.

I watched him chase another deer all over the place for the last 15 minutes of the day. They were way out of range with the compound.

GREAT BUCK @elk yinzer

congrats to the team getting some points up !
have been out a good amount around work, tried to focus on funnels. Moving to thick stuff now:
the bucks have really given me the slip since Muzzleloader opened. I’ve been 50/50 with taking the bow or muzzleloader , hope to see some chasing or rut behavior here soon. Sign is ok, most seasons it’s tough to find the bucks once muzzle comes in .

Yeah I hear ya. One good thing about MA is that there’s no gun hunting till after the rut.

If you are in big woods and you have a gun I’d get out there and find a pocket of deer and then figure out how to stand hunt it. With the big woods, waiting can be futile unless you’re confident in where the deer are.
