Team 3 Thread

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Haven’t posted much for a week or two. Getting caught up on the to do list and recharging!! Congrats to all you guys with some nice deer!!! I’m planning on trying to upgrade my buck here soon. I have a special draw hunt that I was picked for and it runs from Dec. 15 thru Jan. 15. I can take 3 deer including 1 buck. I also have a buck tag I can fill for the rest of Missouri’s regular seasons that are left too. So wish me luck. Good luck to the rest of you guys too! Let’s keep pouring it on!!!

A buddy and I are looking at doing a public land challenge type hunt here after gun season closes. Trying to figure out what tract of public to hit.
Will be my first time deer hunting public land,

Oklahoma

Kinda depends on where we decide to go. We talked about a WMA about 2 hours SE of tulsa. That one is some large hilly country and mostly timber.

Another one we looked at is just 30 minutes away from me and is big river bottoms. Thick thick cover in the bottom and oak flats just outside of the lower elevation near the river.

Well, I don't know what kind of pressure you are dealing with out there, so hear's what I can say, start with the thickest nastiest stuff you can find, and move out from that. They'll be in there regardless of the pressure, but the higher the pressure is there deer will concentrate I that stuff on public. Especially for a firearms season, guys want that long shot, so they hammer the open areas.

Totally agree!

So I got 45 minute to hunt tonight, wife took my middle to gymnastics, and my oldest was looking after my youngest. So I took a walk up the neighbors field, I figured there'd be a good number of deer already in the field as it was already 430. I get to the top and there were already 20+ deer in the field. So I set up the 7mm on the bipod and start checking them to see if there are any buck, as soon as I saw him the safety went off . . . . Lol

Well fellas, another one bites the dust, and that's it for buck hunting for me this year. . .

Terrible picture, he's a solid 7 point, has a busted g2 on the right side

Sorry the picture didn't attach.....

I haven't been able to post much lately, but I pin on heading out this weekend. I fully intend on putting some points on the board this weekend. Aiming to put us back on top of the board!

I’m still at it. I swear I have the worst luck. I go hunting in the evening a few days ago. I’m running late so I get to the tree and start one sticking up. It’s a little slow because I have several limbs I have to go around. I’m about 12ft up, hanging on the side of the tree moving my stick and I hear a deer walking in the leaves. I turn my head and there’s a big wide 8’point 30 yards away heading straight to my tree. I’m thinking well he’s going to see me any second. I mean I have my clothes bag and my bow on my back and look like a Ninja Turtle hanging there. He comes in to 8 yards stops for a second and I’m like ok now he’s gonna see me….nope, he walks right under my ass out the other side and into the brush. 10 min and it would have been a chip shot. You just can’t make this **** up. Guess I proved that one sticking isn’t noisy lol782A8845-4769-48A5-A841-F72F2AF59F62.jpeg

Yeah I've had at least three deer walk directly under me while one sticking. Usually it's while I'm making a move with the stick.

Where was your weapon? No attempt to pull it up?

Pull your knife out and jump on him
Man, I was pretty dumbfounded, to have a mature deer walk that close with no clue. Normally, I have found deer like that to almost have a sixth sense when they are that close. It was like he was in a daze. Them damn does aren’t in a daze! They pick you off without even trying lol.
