Team 3 thread

Congrats @Andrew920! Meat in the freezer and points on the board!

Trying to turn mine around now. Between MIL surgery, and all 4 girls in dance classes 4 days a week I’ve been out half as much as I hoped. Fingers crossed, just saw yesterday dry corn was still up next to apple orchard I have permission on but haven’t hunted yet this year. I’m hoping to get a day sit in weds.

FOUR girls? Yeesh. I thought two was rough. :tearsofjoy:

Good luck man! Hope you can get out there.

Nice job guys......TEAM TREY now tied for 2nd! Hopefully I will add some points soon. I had 2 does come out 5 yards off my left elbow Sunday however they were covered up by the hemlock branches of the tree behind me and they walked away keeping the branches between me and themselves. Pre Rut is heating up and Muzzleloader season starts Saturday.

Headed back to my Georgia lease this evening, hunting tomorrow morn- Tuesday morn.

Cameras been slow, acorns are all over the place, which unfortunately we don't have a lot of in our 12 year old pines, so probably crawl my butt down into the river swamp bottom and see what I see.

I have two trails marked on OnX to get down there. One I named "Eat your Wheaties" and the other "Road to Mordor." Really looking forward to it.

Well it is a beautiful morning here in north Florida today! I finally got a chance to go again but this year has been super hard hunting. Unfortunately my truck lost its rear end last week and now I only have my work truck as a means of transportation as of right now. I’m am also hunting a new way this year as I don’t have my large piece of private property this year and am hunting several pieces of property and although they are in a great area they are only 80x120ft lots. This has been one of the hardest challenges of my hunting career. Most of the public land around here doesn’t open to the public till after Thanksgiving so I’m trying to keep hopes up but the prospect of getting to help the team with more points is looking slim. Sorry for the vented frustration but I know y’all will understand. Good luck to everyone and let’s keep the grind going!!!

Bonus points for honesty. That’s a nice buck, how did that go down?
Haha that would be cool! I was on my grandpas farm and intended on sitting another spot, but at the last minute, I changed my mind and sat the cow pasture. I got thinking my uncles have both shot some bucks out of there over the years and I hardly go near it. Which is quite foolish since it’s a decent funnel from east to west. Above and below the pasture are fields, so unless they want to run through those wide open areas, this spot offers more cover. I parked my butt on a rock against a tree around 630AM and watched the sunrise. It was very calm, and usually it’s quite windy on the hill, so it was a really pleasant morning. Around 8AM I caught movement to my left and realized it was a deer. I then quickly realized, buck! I pulled my gun up and recognized him from trail cam photos earlier in the season. He started picking up the pace in an opening so I had to let out a “mehhh” to get him to slow up. He gave me broadside shot at what I estimated to be 80yards. I squeezed the trigger and the shot felt good, but he ran back and up this hill in the pasture and stopped. I let off a follow up shot to be certain. I couldn’t see him anymore after that and figured he dropped. I made my way over to where I first shot and found good blood, I looked up and to my left on and spotted him down. Nice and quick and as ethical as I could be. I couldn’t ask for more than that. The shakes hit me as I sat there for a moment relishing in it and the sun was starting to peak out and felt warm on my face. It was a beautiful morning, and one to remember.

Doesn’t get much better than that. Nicely put, nice knife too. Thanks for sharing.
