TEAM 4 Thread 2019

Welp I was getting ready yesterday morning to head out and was all dressed ready to go and then I go to pick up my pack and it felt like someone stabbed me in the back. I had muscle spasms and a sharp pain so I took a minute to sit and let it calm down. Then I decided to give it a go so I loaded the gear up in the truck and it was rather painful. As I was driving to the spot every bounce was killing my back, so I decided to head back home. Just didn't seem wise to keep going. Good news is that it feels 75% better today, but bad news is I have to work all week and this weekend coming up I'll be out of town. So, I'm going to miss the best part of the rut.. I'll get us another 5 points on the board by the end of the season, but to say I'm pissed about missing this part of the season is an understatement.
Sorry to hear your down. Hope you feel better soon.

Got my Ridge Runner platform in the mail the other day... time for all-day rut sits. No more sore ROS feet.
Let me know what you think of the platform. I’ve been using ROS for 5 years now and have been curious about a platform. Potentially looking at a platform with some steps on the strap

Heading to mizzou tomorrow for five or six days! I’m feeling pretty good boys. I’ve punched at least one tag every year I’ve gone!

We are killing it. I still have the best part of our season left ahead down here too. I’m hoping for some last minute entries to compliment @bongo on his early one!

Heading out for the first hang with the platform now.... I'll let you know. I've been a ROS only guy so far and it's not bad but my feet do get sore on long sits. That's why I figured I'd try out the platform. I'm taking two of my Squirrel steps with me in case I feel like I want a step or two around the opposite side of tree. BUT... after playing with the platform in the backyad I don't think I'll need them. Maybe on a really big tree but I don't ususally set up in wide trees. We'll see. I'll let ya know my first impressions after this evenings hunt.

@kyler1945 nice buck. Is the JX3 good for gun hunting?

The jx3 is good for ANY hunting. The only reason it didn't go with me on this sit is because I needed to be elevated a couple feet and had no trees to tie off to. If I had been sitting directly on ground this guy might have walked on top of me before I saw him haha.

Yes, you should be able to get a very solid shooting rest between the bridge and the tree. And free hand and off hand shots will be no different than any other saddle.

Wasn’t in my saddle today but had a shot at what would have been my biggest buck yet
I didn’t find any blood in marsh where I thought I seen him last but I easily could have been off by a few yards from where he was standing. It’s a real bummer going home not knowing if he’s down or not but that’s part of hunting might go back tomorrow to look some more.

Headed back out for the rest of this week through the Thanksgiving holiday. Got some weather here in Arkansas the next couple of days, so I’ll probably be stuck in a blind, but once it clears, I’m back in the saddle again.

Been hunting with my son, who isn’t quite ready for a saddle yet, but I’m getting him started with some modded sticks and a safety harness to practice climbing. He took this one last weekend. About a 90 yard shot...I had to stop the deer and he was quick with the shot. Buck crashed after about 50 yards. Proud moment!!! He’s only 8 years old and is completely eat up with hunting of any kind!
