Team 4 thread

That's going to be fun! I love water access hunting. I've only done it a few times. I'm about done setting up a kayak for water access this season. If I could do it over I think I would go with something similar to what you are doing.

I started with a kayak two seasons ago. Then last season I bought a trolling motor for my kayak so it would be easier/more efficient. Then after last season I realized to get where I wanted to get in reasonable time and effort I needed horsepower. So I got this boat. It’s a 15 ft Fisher with a Johnson/Evinrude 18 hp outboard. It goes about 20 mph compared to my 3-4 mph kayak. I’m also a lot less tired from paddling and I’m able to manage bigger water. There were some sphincter tightening moments in the kayak on bigger rivers especially when bigger boats passed me. With this guy that will be no worries and it has a ton of space for gear and deer.

Well I’m going up north for one sit only this weekend to try and connect with this guy tomorrow.

The wind should be perfect. We think we know where he is bedding and where he is crossing over into the property I can hunt. Trying to connect with him before the beans are cut and he doesn’t have as much reason to come over.

Did some more dialing in tonight. This was the my “walk off” set!

Wasn't in a tree, but I got to take my daughter out this morning during youth weekend. She was excited! Very first outing of her hunting career.

Made it to our spot and our blind had been crushed by a bunch of big fallen limbs. Felt real bad because she had worked so hard on it (ghillie jute tied on netting). Was able to get it set back up in the dark though. God is good because we even used a bit of the fallen limbs as break up.

She got to see a squirrel before she got tired and called it at 0800. She had a good time. :) Hopefully the first of many!

Glad you could make it work. Your making memories for life. God bless, that's what it's all about.

That is so stinkin’ awesome! It’s unfortunate that Murphy showed up on your hunt but often times overcoming adversity is what makes a hunt memorable and fun. I hope this is the first of many more great memories and adventures.

That's awesome. The limbs were a blessing. She'll always remember that hunt that the 'tree' fell on her blind.

Hey everyone! I was on a fishing trip last week so I am just getting caught up on our team. I'm in Western NY. Nice going on a strong start to the season. We start Oct.1st and I am looking forward to a safe & successful year for everyone.

Well “he” followed the script perfectly… unfortunately the star “big guy” called in sick and his understudy showed up…. Watched him make a rub for a bit at about 12 yards away. If only the big boy would have shown up!

I don’t know how many sits I will get in between now and November. Will be in CO for 1st rifle elk hunt for 2 weeks. And trying to keep the wife happy before that trip.
