OK pre-trip report.
Friday night we hit the road heading up to Hearst Ont, and then fly into the bush Sat. Hearst is at red dropped pin, which is about 1100km from my place. The red X kind of in the area we are going - I'm going to refrain from zooming in too much under the presumption you are all going to hijack my spot!! We are then setup for a week, hoping we can pick up on some moose activity. I drew the bull tag this year, now all I have to do is see it through...

The spot is in a large lowland without much elevation change at all. There are no tree stands, cut lanes, roads, trails or luxuries of any kind, just Mother Nature. My mind is spinning right now considering all the stuff I may have forgotten to pack, and all the useless crap that I have packed. Anticipation really makes your mind move. Best part is that the weather report looks unfavourable!

Anyhow I will post some photos and a trip report when I get back.

Well guys day one was uneventful. A lot more people on public than I’ve ever seen on opening day. I’m going in farther and deeper today.

weather is going to be right for Louisiana this weekend! Hoping to put 5pts on the board and meat in the freezer!

Well guys I’m hunting today and tomorrow. This weekend was uneventful. Figured I’d burn a little vacation time. I’m trying something new today. I’m hunting in my Mantis with the H2 Triad Bridge. It probably won’t be as good as my SitDrag, but I won’t know until I give it a fair shake. I hated the original fixed bridge

Sit drag is still my go-to when I'm not using the jx3.

Update... current temp is 66, yesterday’s high was 86.. I’m hanging in a tree and hanging my head.. while walking into my set I had an encounter with the buck I posted in post #51. I was on the ground staring at him 30 yards away. His vitals were covered and I had a good cross wind. After about a 5 minute stand off he must of caught some of my wind and trotted off.. but at least I saw him

So Friday night I went to piece of public and didn’t setup in the first tree I was thinking about climbing then had a big doe come by that tree just out of my range. Next hunts will be Wednesday and the weekend I’ll be hunting a piece that usually gets hunted only a handful of days out of the year but now its open for archery on week days should be a good one

Well finally had the energy to get myself up this morning when I went out to my favorite public land I noticed a hunting buddies truck sitting there didn’t put much thought into it for some reason but after my hunt on my way out there was cops and game wardens on side of the road he was found laying on the trail just off the road my guess is that he passed away while walking back to his truck last night. The point is always let someone know where you are going you never know when it’s your time

I’m sorry to hear that. But sound advice, always let someone know where you will be
