TEAM 5 2019

I got this little guy. He grossed 20 inches but gives us points. Not much moving where I was hunting. Wolves came through and kind of did a number on the deer.

I’ll at least put one down this year, might just be a doe, but not sure I’ll have another chance for a second since I can only shoot one in WA.

Well boys I'm going to have to apologize to y'all because I'm not being much help this year. To date I have killed four deer and not one of them has been out of a saddle. Sorry I'm not any help to the contest as of yet but I'm fixing to start hunting exclusively out of my saddle on public through this month and next if I don't burn up all my tags. I have two tags left so hopefully I can add some points for our team before it's over.

Finally got a saddle kill. 1st saddle kill, first buck with a bow, and first public land deer. I found some good beds two days prior when scouting. It rained the day before the hunt, all day and night, and was just really nasty weather. I come down with a pretty nasty head cold so instead of braving the elements and making my condition worse I hung around the camp and just contemplated how to get into this area. The wind was projected to be North Northeast at 4 miles an hour. I wasn't sure if I wanted to try to come through the swamp and approached directly from the West but ultimately I decided to come in from the southwest and hug the edge of the swamp as I made my entrance. I park my truck at about 10 minutes after 4 in the morning and it took me about an hour to make the half mile Journey Through the Woods and swamp to my set. The woods War real quiet and I didn't want to make any unnecessary noise. I set up 20 yards downwind of the bedding area right on the edge of the swamp. From my tree I could see down in the bedding area so at first light I knew there was nobody that had beat me in there. This young buck came to the north side I'm assuming checking the scrapes to the north that I found. Eventually came to the east of the bedding area and circle downwind and came into the bedding area nose to the wind. As he passed me fixing to enter the bedding area at 20 yards he got stuck. Sorry it took me so long but my fifth deer finally got to get entered into the contest it's been a really good year so far, and I got one tag burning a hole in my pocket and I'm heading out tomorrow evening to do it all over again. @kyler1945 and I are headed back up there for the lottery rifle hunt this weekend. Hopefully I can post up one more saddle kill before The Season's out. The rut is fixing to start here in about 2 weeks so needless to say I'm going to be much more picky with my last tag.

I killed another doe from my saddle the weekend before Thanksgiving, but forgot to take a picture. It was late and I had a ways to go with it so by the time I thought about the picture it was deboned and in my pack.
