Late season is open now for muzzleloader/bow. I have a few days or so to get out. Hopefully I can make something happen.
Sorry to hear that man, it’s a tough feeling to wrestle with.No blood and no sign of him anywhere. Grid searched but nothing… makes no sense. Man hunting sucks a lot of times. I really thought today was the day.
Don’t take it from me because I’m no deer expert but I have hunted the same location basically all season and have bumped deer coming in and out almost every other time I hunt and I still see deer there everytime I hunt.Man, had a doe come creeping in right near last light, maybe 15 or so minutes left. Grazing about 60 yards out, but headed my direction. Moved so slow and then cut away right before she was going to come into my range.
In the meantime one came up right behind me just after shooting light. Started blowing as she got my scent. Could hear probably 3-5 deer blowing in the distance in response. How much time do you guys like to give a place after you get winded by deer in a location?
Yeah it all depends, I think getting busted from your stand visual & scent may make them regroup but you can get away with a bitMan, had a doe come creeping in right near last light, maybe 15 or so minutes left. It seems to me that every location is unique. Deer density, pressure and the frequency of human presence all probably play a role. My observation around here is the more remote places the deer are much more sensitive to human presence. But take my observations with a grain of salt, the season is almost over and I’ve yet to harvest one.Man, had a doe come creeping in right near last light, maybe 15 or so minutes left. I’ll trade ya !! I’m laid up here with the Rona, my coughing would be louder than your crunchingConditions here are challenging. It’s too cold to be in the saddle and the deer aren’t moving during daylight hours. I’ve been tracking on snow / bare ground. Right now the ground is frozen without snow and is loud as hell. It’s hard going. I’ve been getting into deer but not able to get close enough with such a noisy substrate.
All good turning the corner now! Be back out in the woods soonI’ve been experiencing the same thing…. Loud as heck and just blowing deer out when I do come across them. Hey well soon Bigterp!
Sorry I didn’t carry any weight this year fellas. It wasn’t for lack of trying. Work did cut into my hunting a lot and I didn’t get to go as much as I normally would. I may still stick a doe but that’ll just be for eating. I’m just competitive as the next guy so it sucks that I didn’t contribute. If we’re on teams again next year I hope none of y’all will hold it against me. Until next time!
