Well guys thought I was going to finally get a shooter in range.

Had a NICE buck come in(from the wrong direction). I spun around and came to full draw. He was coming in full tilt. Wind blowing like crazy and boom he stops, winds me, and bolts! 2 more feet and this post would have been a different story!! Pretty sure this was him. I am off Tuesday and Wednesday and scheduled for a couple all day sits. Hoping the chasing picks up!

Sorry man! Happens to the best of us! Its been a while since I sniffed the woods! Supposed to have most this week off work but its also Supposed to storm the days I'm supposed to be off.

Mistake? No, you can't let the what-if's get ya. You made a logical decision with your limited hunting schedule to stack the odds in your favor. Hope he comes by you later in the week! He is a STUD!!

He would look great on the wall lol. Chances are pretty good I never see him again but it's what keeps me in the woods! That and all the food it provides!
 
What a rollercoaster of a year. My partner at work just got a positive Covid test so I’m not going to have any vacation next 2 weeks :( I don’t rmr the last time I missed the firearm opener. On the plus side I recently managed to get permission on a 80 acre farm that is full of thick cover so I like my odds of getting a few chances there. Keep grinding and good things will come.

Bummer man. Maybe the big boys will be waiting for you in the thick stuff! Picking up new ground is awesome.
 
Had 6 in the field but never got closer than 100yds. This was a spot i had been saving and have never hunted before on private. They came out of a finger across the field and to the left that you cant see in the pic. 3 bucks and 1 doe with 2 fawns. Had a bigger buck behind me about 30 minutes before they came out, but something spooked him. Looked like a small 8 but never seen him again. I am pretty sure the area that was behind me is a bedding area for him. So 7 deer in 2 hours and it was a beautiful evening.
Ive been striking out on Public so it was nice to see something breathing and walking besides myself while in the saddle. Wednesday is my last day at work until December so I hope to get us some points and some tenderloin in the freezer soon.
 
Things worked out tonight for the firearm opener. Didn’t think i was going to be able to hunt today but my partner at work got back from Covid leave just in time. Third time I’ve seen this buck. First time up close. I knew he ran the place and let a young 9 pt sniff things out for him. The young buck came by at 15 yards and then i was covered up in does all night and big guy decided to come check things out about 30 minutes before closing. Stopped him. Shot him. Mule kicked and ran about 75 yards. All the glory to God!
