Team 6!

So I pulled some strings at work. I'll get my first sit of the season tomorrow evening! I'll be checking out my 5 acre private access. Kind of an observation type sit with the hopes of maybe taking something!

Best of luck, Unfortunately work pulled some strings on me, and I am not making it to WV for their opener this week because of work, but will spend Sunday making some last minute prep of the private piece we hunt most frequently here in VA.

I've been watching too much The Hunting Public on the YouTube! I'm having some serious hunt withdrawals! Work and school have worked against me so far. Not to mention thunderstorms and fighting off illness! I'm chomping at the bit! Sorry about your luck at work. I hope you can make the best of your time you do get off!

He's thick bodied. Have you seen him before?

No. I got permission to hunt this place last November before they winter their cows here. Just did 3-4 sits. Thought I lost rights due to my coworkers grandma selling the place and then he ended up buying it from her so I got it back until the cows invade!

Well if they have always had cattle on the farm he may be used to them being around. I've seen deer grazing with cows before within 50-100 yards. FIngers crossed brother!

Oh he will walk probably. Was a nice 2 year old 8 too that will be real nice when he gets a couple more years on him.

I will get free reign until thanksgiving so hopefully I’m tagged out by then anyways. When I sat last year I saw a few big boys! Just was in the wrong spot for a shot. I cleared a nice shooting lane and prepped a few trees in case they come back during the rut again.

I’m getting the sense that this property is more of a rut spot. Lots of bedding not much If any buck signs but they do seem to travel through.

And rifle season isn’t until first of December so is great to hunt one down in daylight before too much pressure with a bow.

Damn, losing 2 decent spots. My buddy went up yesterday to put up a couple of stands and ran into a logging crew setting up a landing in his parking spot. They marked this area 6 years ago and it is all junk wood. I thought maybe it was not worth cutting. New chipboard plant an hour north has increased the demand for lumber .... any lumber by the looks of it. OSB sheeting is sky high so good for them ..... a big job source for the local community. It is an oddly shaped area they have to cut and I think they will need a couple of landings. My sets are at the far end so maybe I will get a few hunts in.

Best I have on camera at this location. Not a monster but legal. Most years he would get a pass. This year, knowing what I know, if he gives me a chip shot it might be all over for him.
