Team 7 Thread

I went midday today for a bit. It was a goat roping. Rain band from the hurricane was the last straw, lol.

Things went too fast Tues night with so little time I never got pics while up in the tree, and it was so still and quiet I thought I'd be busted after every tiny noise.....but I had a button buck come in that I'd figured I'd take a shot at for my 2nd antlerless, but hit a branch and totally lost my 2nd of 3 new single bevels broadheads☹. He ran off without knowing how lucky he'd been and almost gave me a second attempt when he began walking behind me... Thankfully, for him and me, I had a large doe come in from the perfect angle right in front of my strong side. Since my branch pruning job was done, I was ready to actually shoot a deer and she must have taken a deep breath at the exact moment of impact because it was the loudest POP I've heard as both lungs deflated and she staggered off the way she came and sounded like she just lay down....Then I got ready to rappel down and had everything put away when I saw a deer come out of the exact spot the doe went....I had immediate doubts whether I had actually made a good shot and was rebuking myself for putting my bow away too early. Then I noticed it was smaller and likely the mature fawn. It hung around looking up at where the noises I had been making were coming from and in order not to spook it I bagan singing softly then slowly louder. It finally walked off without spooking, and I recovered my prize. She is the biggest doe I've shot at 130lbs. Now I've got my full attention on a nice 10 coming by at sunset in my corner of the golf course.Screenshot_20221108-191708_SPYPOINT.jpg20221107_170701.jpgScreenshot_20221108-191546_SPYPOINT.jpg

I got in to my camp late last night and got 3 spots set up before the rain came. Tomorrow will be in the 20s so it should be good.

Nice man!

Ade my last archery sit til after rifle season tonight and had the big 10 I encountered back in October come out right at the end of legal light. Unfortunately I had ran out of light to see my pins about 5 minutes before that and had just finished lowering my bow down and decided to toss the rope down so I wouldn't have to worry about it tangling while I climbed down I don't think I had enough light to make an ethical shot at 35 yards, but his rack sure did shine on the limited light left.
Rifle season opens tomorrow and I'll be out but won't be in a saddle. Hopefully I can fill the freezer and that big 10 makes it though the season.

Got my rifle season buck yesterday morning an hour after season opened. Not a saddle kill unfortunately but I am pretty pleased with him.

I took a 10 pt this morning. He came in at 7:20, I barely had gotten set up. I don‘t know how to resize a photo from my iPad so I can’t post a pic now

Spent this past week in Kansas. For the most part I got my butt kicked for four straight days. On the final day I had a nice 10 point at 14 yards but he was on my weak side so I couldn't get turned on him. It was a fun week and I learned a ton. Before I left I was able to get both of my daughters on their first bucks. My oldest killed a nice 11 point and my youngest daughter killed an 8 point that was 21 3/8 inches wide. Pretty awesome day to experience that with my girls. I still haven't had any saddle success to help the team yet.
