Team 7 Thread

Bumped a nice buck and a doe coming in. Didn’t blow. New spot but skat everywhere and very thick. I’m only set up about 10ft high but have decent privet cover and my back to tree. Decided to cross the mud flats since water is so low. Out of my comfort zone but hoping I get lucky. Found a nice rub right on the river too. IMG_9965.jpegIMG_9966.jpegIMG_9968.jpegIMG_9969.jpeg

Slid an arrow through another slick head. Thought the shot looked great and she went down in sight 40 yards away. Jury is out on what I hit tho. Both holes look a little back. Almost has to be hepatic artery or somethin for her to go down so quick. Find out on a hour or so when I hit the skinin rack.

Down to bucks now. Couple studs I’ve been after but they seem to be full nocturnal, at least so far. Few days left to get aggressive.

Arrow went through the diaphragm but just behind the lungs. It center punched all the big stuff leading into the liver so blood loss was massive and quick enough for her to get dizzy and lay down after just a few seconds. Feeling lucky on this one and very thankful. Blood trail wasn’t great since her abdominal cavity basically has to fill up first. Luckily I didn’t need it. I’ll be after one of the two good bucks to see if I can upgrade for more points but these big boys are ghosts.

Looks like to me that you need to upgrade one of the does to at least a spike for us to get out of the basement. No pressure but go kill one of your ghost bucks. And do it soon. I think we are almost out of time on our contest.

I got a chuckle out of the no pressure but we are almost out of time comment. Mostly cause I have had that same conversation with myself many times.
After not recovering 2 does and not getting clean shots on several nice 8 pts im deerless going into the last weekend of the season. The pressure is truly being felt.

I’ve been there. I had an exceptional year this year so it’s nice to be able to give a little harassment rather than receiving it. lol. Good luck to you hopefully it will all come together this weekend for you.

Dont worry about the closing date, just hunt smart and clean. It only takes a few seconds to turn the tide but you gotta be there. You got this.

Well sat my last sit of the season. I had a Late start to the season with the bathroom remodel but I still got plenty of hunts in (no excuses). I had 6x 8 pts within 35-50 yards just couldn’t get a shot. I didn’t recover two does I shot (one bad shot one unfortunate ran private). I saw deer almost every hunt and hunted primarily new to me spots. Saw the most rut action this year ever. Despite my burning shame from tag soup I had a fun season. I know I’m no deer slayer but I’m typically good for 10. I really enjoy competition so I hate I didn’t pull my weight even to just get us out of last. Thanks for sharing the virtual deer camp with me fellas! Y’all have a blessed rest of the year.

Well, sorry I couldn't pull us out of the cellar. I didn't get any of the target bucks I was after, so south Bama humbles me again. That said, I blew off the last evening hunt, decided to sit a field with the old lady and she dumped a heavy (for the area) mature buck in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs and 2 strikes to break in the new rifle I put together for her for Christmas. That was a nice cherry on top of a good hunt. She came down and hunted a couple days. Then she went to a shooting match in GA and made it back to camp for the last evening hunt. Of course she smacks a good one. Its so funny how I can be down there so long climbing trees and trying to get into all the big deer and she has the biggest deer anyone took on the lease this year stroll out in a green patch in daylight. I couldn't be happier for her. I was trying to get her to shoot the first doe that walked out. Then a spike came in and I told her she better shoot because he was fixin' to act a fool and run her out, which he did. She was chuckling over that and then big boy struts in the back of the patch and she dumps him in his tracks with his head down facing us right between the shoulder blades which is always a devastating shot. SMDH.

The drive home across the TX ice sheet was slow and grueling but we made it upright unlike a lot of other rigs on the road we saw. We came home from Bama with 2 8pts, 3 does and 3 hogs so a good trip all together. That wraps up the 24-25 season for me unless I get out to try for a couple rabbits. Now we're just waiting on September again. Nice playing with you boys, have a great year.

Nothing wrong with that buck! Tell her congrats for me.

Will do. For the south alabama poor nutrition area of piney woods the lease is on he's a pretty nice deer. There have been some nicer ones killed down there but its been a couple years and guys used to feed quite a bit of supplements in the summer trying to grow horns. Now we cant feed since its Westervelt land. I also think thats why we went from having a ton of pigs to them being fairly scarce, which is good and bad. Mostly bad for me since thats mostly why I joined down there.
