Team 7!

Had a great encounter with a buck last night. He was a borderline shooter. He came out as it was getting dark. He was only at 25 yards but in some thicker stuff and between trying to identify him as a shooter, low light and the thick stuff it wasn’t meant to be. 5 yards closer or 10 minutes earlier and I might have let an arrow fly.

I should just hunt the evening shift. I was in a tree from 9:30 to 2:30 but started getting hip pinch about 4 hours in. My Plywood Primal Platform was not constructed too well and was sagging so I ended up with an angled scout. It was difficult to stand up straight to relieve the pinch. I was in a saddle for 8 hours over the last two days and hadn't sat so long since last year so my hip pinch was set. I planned to sit till dark but decided the season has many more weeks, so I quit. I repurposed my insert plywood from last year and fastened it to the step this morning. It should be better. I hate two pieces when one will do. I only have two hands.

I did 5.25 miles this morning on public doing some scouting and pulled 4 cameras. Gotta review pics and make a game plan

Sounds good hope you have some good pics. Heading out on a doe hunt this evening and try and put something on the board. Weather here in Missouri has been some of the best opening weekend temps in years!!!

Yesterday I heard a deer get up out of its bed and/or was coming through the security cover at closing time. Unfortunately HE was out of range. I was able to see bits and pieces of him with my monocular through the canopy. He nibbled on some white oak acorns for a minute but was on the move. Definitely a 3yr old maybe 4 but the rack looked good. I don't use cameras so no pics but I would guess he's an 8 point. This week after work, I'll give it another shot.

I’ve got these two showing up with some smaller ones regularly during day light, hope to put an arrow in one after the first.

This little fella is on a strict don’t shoot list, would love to see what he turns into in a few years.

I'm planning on heading out around 2PM for the late shift. I'm going to try a funnel, a new spot for me. At least, I think it's called a funnel. I just sewed a facemask this morning.

Good report so far for the Michigan trip, caught a few but bite is slow

Dad caught the big king, uncle caught the steelhead, and i had a nice brown trout (no pics :/)

Beautiful fish. I caught some lake trout in upper Quebec about 25 years ago almost as big as those.

I went out this afternoon and saw no deer. I saw a hawk about the size of a sparrow hawk but it was so quick flying between branches I don't think it was. It looked at me with my facemask on and I don't think it knew what I was.
I am exhausted after climbing and hunting for the past 3 days, I may take tomorrow off. I was 63 years old yesterday and I don't have the energy I used to have.

Nice fish! I feel your frustration, when it comes to the energy level!! Getting older sucks!! After my knee replacement my mind says I can do it-my body says otherwise!!

I was going to go out for a afternoon sit today but I still don't feel recovered. I will take a nap now and try to head out before sunup tomorrow.

I think the hawk was a Sharp Shinned Hawk judging by it's acrobatic flight. It didn't hit any branches at lightning speed.

Gonna go try kill a bear tonight, local corn maze opens Saturday and they found a bear in it yesterday so I got the call to come try find him
