Just a little bragging on the 7 year for his first deer kill!!

It was shot from a box but I might have to get this kid a saddle for Christmas!

(The eye injury was from fighting or a limb; he didn’t shoot it in the head)

Well I went the entire Wisconsin gun season without seeing a single deer. There are a few doe gun seasons here and there and I also have my archery licenses for a couple does and a buck through the end of January. Was out the other night and had a 8-10 point within 35 yards but couldn’t get a shot.

I’ll have some points on the board before this is all over.

Go get them boys! I was going to go out this morning by decided to spend time with the little ones. I’ll be hitting it hard tomorrow should be getting a cold front/snow with a steady wind.

I have almost two weeks left here in NY to get a doe with the muzzleloader. No buck tags left for me.

I put an arrow through what would have been my largest buck ever in early November. I was not in a tree at the time as I was walking into my stand in the morning. I had my JX3 on my back and ended up 7 yards from a huge buck. It was a gimme shot but I messed up. I have a single pin that is good out to 32 yards but I have to aim low inside of 15 yards. In the heat if the moment I didn't remember that and I hit real high. it was a pass through but no bubbles on the arrow at all or in the blood on the ground. I trailed the buck 1/4 mile about 4 hours after the shot. He never bedded down and the blood was sparse other than the location of the hit. He went onto private land so I tried to get permission to bring a tracking dog onto that private land. The owner would not let me onto his land. I haven't hunted much after that. I have since gone back to instinctive shooting with my compound like I used to do. I went with a pin this year to extend my range but it came back to bite me. I have really been kicking myself because I know that would gave been a dead deer if I just wouldn't have tried to use a sight pin and shot instinctive.

I have been back in that area and found what I believe to be the tracks from the buck I hit (A very distinctive large track on his rub line). Also, another hunter saw a large buck in that area that really sounds like the one I hit. The buck was chasing a doe. I am hopeful that the buck I hit is still alive and will do fine but I am unsure as I haven't seen him.

I am going to hunt after Christmas in a special CWD hunt. I got a permit to hunt in a State Park so I hope to add a few more points anyway. I will be carrying a gun then so I will extend my range that way.

I killed a doe tonight. I have pics of the doe and bow, and a pic with me in the saddle an hour earlier, but not of the doe and saddle together. I killed it from the saddle, how and where do I post it?

David

They let others photos count without the saddle in the pic so they have to count yours

Only had a spike and fork horn (illegal) this weekend in range...drew back on a turkey but spotted by a different bird in the flock

Well folks,i am done hunting after today. I got a doe with the smoke pole but from the ground still hunting. We had about 3" of fresh snow and i couldnt resist. Found a group of does on the sheltered side of a ridge littered with fallen trees. My freezer is full now. This one doesn't count for the contest either,so my 9 points were all i could contribute. Good luck to the rest of you still going after it.
