Okay so I switched it up on the sticks I found a better way. On the stopper bolt I cut it down and nutted it from inside the post instead so you can put the steps completely vertical. By doing that you can stack them one up one down in line and then drill a bolt hole through them all to secure them or use a gear tie. If you go bolt and wing nut make sure your measurements are every from both ends of the sticks so you don’t have to mark them 1 2 3 4 to stack them in order and align the holes

I’ve been using the gear tie and think it’s an amazing way to secure them. Way better than the belt and clip that comes standard.

But I also plan to upgrade to LWCG Double Steps when they come back in stock

Finished the stick mod HuntNorthEast very pleased with the results. Only thing I would do differently is cut the sticks with a cleaner tool instead of a hack saw.

17 inches total length. 15 inches step to step. They weigh a total of 1.7 pounds per stick with rope mod. All original hardware except adding threaded inserts to the bolt that stops the step from rotating. That allows me to turn the stand off brackets so I can stack side by side. Cost me around 10 bucks total.

Those look like you went super short! I used a grinder to cut mine! I hope you’re running aiders!

I will be running aiders and also adding a 4th stick to the mix. Also the reason they’re shorter is because I went with the no drilling holes approach. I cut the bottoms off and flipped the stick over so I didn’t have to drill any additional holes.

I will this weekend, my wife had surgery last week so I was on child duty this weekend so no hunting for me.

No bueno on the surgery. Hope all’s well. I was on kid duty this weekend. Hung a stand scouted two pieces with my brother niece daughter and one of my sons hung two cameras and had pictures not 4 hours after we left. Not even all the left over fruit snacks scared the deer away lol

LMBO fruit snacks are great no matter how old you are. What cameras are you running?

They are. And I think the kids dropped a couple hundred. At least. Could be more. 2 Tactacam and 2 cabelas gen 3 are what we put in there. Threw two Spypoint in the second spot. We went kinda over board with 4 in one spot because there’s so much sign but we can get to it from either side of two roads. So wanna know what side and elevation has more action so we can come in from the opposite.

I’m still looking at cameras. I’ve always just run and gunned. Scout and hunt but that’s just the style I’ve adopted for a while. Andrae and Cody D’acquisto or however you spell it also does it.

I still run and gun even tho we have probably 30 cameras out there lol. Sometimes ya find sign ya just can’t pass up and it pays off! Sometimes you shoulda listened to the cameras hahaha

GOOD COLD FRONT THIS WEEKEND EVERYONE!! Go let the air out of a few would ya?!

I'll be out all day Saturday on a scrape line that usually produces bucks. Haven't stepped foot in there in 2 years due to regen. growth, but I hope it produces! Wish me luck! 43 here Saturday morning and not breaking 50 until 9 a.m. with a high of 55.

I let this spot be for 2 years in order to wait for the regen from the cut to mature a little more. 5 years of buck history in there prior to that. (Cut was about 12 years ago) Sept-Oct. are usually the 2 hot months in there with the bucks disappearing come Nov. rut. Hoping for the best on a West wind...

Archery opens Saturday down here in Texas. The weather is looking less than optimal and won’t get good until Monday… of course! But that won’t keep me from hunting, I’m hoping to give an old doe a dirt nap

Finally got my sticks painted and reassembled. Ready for this weekend. Also have the aiders installed. Chose to leave the hardware black since my wife having surgery and my daughters terrible twos starting! I’ll be out tomorrow, Friday, and most of the weekend. Here’s to a bountiful harvest! The cable aiders seem a little out of control though. Any suggestions on methods of securing them? Lol excuse the mess in the garage. Still moving in!
