I'm officially done here in the North East. Gear is getting cleaned and hitting the totes. Finished the year off with 8 deer under my belt and 4 mishaps.
1: 40 yard shot, big doe rodeo turned and went across the brisket. Got her on cam 3 days later with minor damage.
2: Another 40 yard shot, rodeo turned. My buddy had just shot a buck chasing a doe and she was on high alert. I thought I had it in the bag but she was too quick. This one also survived, skipped off shoulder and lower neck. Man deer are tough.
3: This is where it gets interesting... In Ohio, shot a doe broadside at a trotting pace. First, mid rib cage, second, shoulder, with a 450BM. Bones and hair everywhere, not a drop of blood... 6 guys searched everywhere, no dice.
4: Now the heart break. Shot a 140" range ten point, Ohio. 450BM running shot 15 yards. Good shoulder hit, good blood. Died by the gravel road (right on the edge) and a pushing party driving by loaded him before we got to the end of the blood trail. If any of you know Ohio hunting you can guess the folks that took it...
Overall, shot 12, took home 8.
