Pictures make his g2 look like they're 16" long. Another solid buck!

That’s a beauty @Gator nice work! I love a big 8

Man I’ve filled my buck and doe slots every year, and I feel helpless not having good ground an hour or two away anymore. Have some good hunts coming up boys, hopefully I can pile on late!

Optical illusion. He did have some age to him based on the jawbone but not a high scoring buck. Maybe I can get on one of the other bucks where I can run cams

Awesome buck @Gator , congratulations! FWIW, that puts us back in first place again. Before this we had just been overtaken by a single point at 91. Way to go.

Had one of those hunts this evening that you don't want to end. Slipped into a tree really close to a bedding area about 1 pm and had deer within bow range all evening. A 4pt, 6pt, 2 spikes, 4 does, and the #1 buck on the kill list. Big boy stayed at 45yds in the green briar thicket never presenting a shot unfortunately. Back to work tomorrow. Rifle season opens Saturday for us. Praying the that he doesn't get shot.

Had an ugly 5pt under me last night. Didn’t have a tine longer than 2”. He lightly sparred with a spike but nothing worth shooting.

I almost added 15 points for us last night.

Got to spend a little time scouting and setting a few cameras. The cold weather got the deer on their feet a lot more during daylight. I went to swap a card and try a new access route for one spot. Got home and had 4 different legal bucks in that spot. A lot.

I snuck in last night, and had a doe and two yearlings browse past me. She got downwind and stomped and was not thrilled about my smell. They eventually got out of earshot, and I could see another deer coming. It was a 3pt, and he worked the scrapes I was set up on. I figured I won't be able to hunt much for a spell, and we need points, so I let him get directly upwind before a soft grunt. I lost him in the thicket, and never saw him again. I could see another deer coming, and now I'm getting worked up. The doe, yearlings, and 3pt were regulars in all the pictures. The only others were big bucks.

I let the deer settle into working the scrape, and hoped he'd come to the one under me next. All of a sudden, I hear that ole nanny doe snort at me about 50-75 yards behind me. He looks up in her direction, trying to figure out what was going on. She snorts again, and he turns our way. I let out a soft tending grunt, and he sprinted from about 60 yards out straight to my tree. I had the mini locked and loaded...only problem he stopped behind a tree at about 6-7 steps. I could see his hams and tips of one antler. He had slammed on the brakes because I'm sure he ran into my smell. He tensed up, and turned on a dime and trotted off same direction with no shot.

The doe stomping and snorting behind me gave me the perfect cover. It worked out perfectly, minus his stopping point. Checked card and it was a really nice 10, and would definitely been my best bow buck. Game of inches.

Sorry boys. Executed 99.99%, but couldn't close the deal.

Setup for the second weekend park hunt is today. Snow on the ground so my plan is to get close to thick stuff and find fresh tracks. With no scouting allowed, that’s the best I can do! Supposed to be a downright cold weekend, hopefully that’ll have the deer up on their feet.

Bumped a doe going in right on the edge of my hunt zone. The park is a river bottom type habitat, so pretty open maple forest and not much for thick cover in my zone. I ended up setting up in an area with two pretty heavy trails in the snow, and plenty of meandering tracks. Will see what tomorrow brings!

I wish we'd get a good 2-3" of snow here during deer season. I have yet to have the opportunity to deer hunt in the snow. That being said if it snowed well enough I'd be in a cut corn field full of goose decoys and spinners shooting fat mallards!

Good news and bad. Bad news is today was my last day of vacation just to hunt. Good news is tomorrow is firearms opener and my well driller is supposed to come on Monday to drill my new well.

Well guys, I had my chance and it didn't work out. I setup for our rifle opener based on where I had been seeing my target buck on a pretty regular basis toward the tail end of bow season. Well he showed up at 8:45 and I had him at 75 yds broadside. Best I can figure is that I hit something between us with the shot.

I was completely calm and waited probably 2-3 minutes before I felt the shot opportunity was right. I had a solid rest against the tree and I had the crosshairs centered on his shoulder. When I touched it off he mule kicked and ran but never went down within sight. It was thick enough he was out of sight in 40yds. I waited a 1/2 hour and got down and went over to find the tracks. No problem tracking him in the left over snow but only occasional blood drops of dark red (meat type wound) blood. It was snowing hard when I got down and I managed to track him easily for a couple hundred yards but he hit open clearcut where the snow base had already melted and I couldn't follow his tracks and there wasn't enough blood to show up through the accumulating snow. I managed to follow him for another 100 or so yards over the course of the next couple of hours before finally giving up. Based on the sign I found I honestly don't think the shot was fatal. He was a nice approx. 110" 8 point.

Unfortunately my truck has also failed me and is the shop this weekend getting the 4wd repaired, 12"of snow on the ground right now so I'm not getting back in the woods without it. Looks like Thanksgiving may be my next opportunity.

Saw one deer this morning, a nice 8pt. Had him at 15 yards and he busted me coming to full draw. He didn’t bugger out, just turned and walked away slowly after seeing a bit of movement. Hoping he comes back through tomorrow.

Got us our 5 point doe. My dad actually put me onto this spot he found it a couple weeks ago and it was all sorts of torn up. Been a couple decades but I am not above a little assist from the old man!

Saw deer all evening, it was miserably cold with snow squalls but the last hour was nuts. Saw a very decent 7 point then right at sunset a smaller 6 chased this doe past me I stopped her at 20 and my friggin contact was all teary from the wind so I blinked a few times and got it to where I could halfway see the pins but I should not have taken the shot with my vision goofed up in hindsight.

Hit back, could tell from sound and her reaction it was no bueno. Sat in the dark until and hour after the shot and found my arrow confirming it was guts. Backed out, went in at first light this morning and found her right away, she didn't go 30 yards before she bedded down and eventually died.

Off to WV now hunting the first couple days of rifle there.

Yep she was fully rigored but the meat was still pretty warm even though it was a low around 10. Those hides really insulate!

Saw 6 does this morning but not a doe day. Back in same spot this afternoon hoping all them does will bring the boys
