Team 8 Thread

5 big mature white oaks just now starting to drop, pretty sure the buck in the back is the big 10 I almost killed twice last year. Unfortunately wind isnt going to work out until Tuesday night, hopefully they're still on it by then.

The truck and camper are all packed. I'm pumped up enough I'm going in to work early tomorrow so I can head out a little early. Looking forward to a beautifully forecasted opening weekend. Could be a little cooler, its forecasted to be 40ish in the morning to mid 60's in the afternoon but that's just early season hunting.

Good deal. Get out there and kill a big one so we can stay on top of the leaderboard for another week. Team 10 has really turned it on, we need some more puntos.

Yeah . . . that ship sailed, for the moment anyway. My season hasn't even started and there's 16 deer and 147 points on the board. :tearsofjoy:

Right now we need 20 points to get tied for the lead again. Teams 10 and 5 are kicking butt early.

All good, just means they will be done way before the finish line. Most seasons haven't even started yet.

20 points, whats the big deal? Just go kill a 10 pt and a doe this weekend! As fun as it is to be on top the whole time, it doesn't really matter until the end. It would almost be as fun to lay back with a bunch of kill pics and skunk another team right at the end who thinks they have it in the bag.

Was out twice last week in CT with nothing to show for my efforts.
The first outing was an afternoon sit to dark until heavy winds and rain chased me away before sunset. The second outing was at an area where I found a huge rub off a trail close to bedding last year. I sat from noon till dark at that one.

I'm hunting over a game trail now with fresh sign and 20 yards from a trailcam overlooking a scrape with a licking vine tied above it. I didnt see the cam until I started to climb but if things go right it's owner will see a kill shot when he checks the card, lol

Goodluck guys! I like reading and following along! I will try to post more coming up! Been trying to get jobs done between trips. I did harvest a doe last weekend but it was a tree stand kill so no points! I should still be good for some coming! Keep up the great work!

Good luck over the weekend fellas. I'm off in the morning with the better half to try and whack a couple speed goats, her first. Wont be toting the saddle along; doesn't look like lopes count anyway. I am taking the bow and hoping to try a stalk after she gets one. If they are all super riled up already I'll just take the long poke but hopefully we can find a small herd that relaxed. We have some private to hunt but it does sound like some guys were out there with muzzles last week, so Im less than optimistic that we'll find a herd that relaxed. Good chance there will be lots of gun fire all around too. Just got back from BLM poking steel out to 600 so should be good for whatever.

Struck out today in CT.
I'm hunting the NY opening day tomorrow on the hill behind my house for a few hours in the morning if it isn't raining. I start my four midnights tomorrow night so I won't be getting out again until Wednesday afternoon. On Thursday I'll jump to PA in a spot where I have a couple of booners on camera.
Good luck to all on opening day!

Opening day tomorrow. I work, but have Sunday- Tuesday off. Got a spot or two to smack a doe, and one spot I'm waiting for a north wind to hunt thats had some good bucks using it. Should get my north wind Tuesday evening.

Change of plans for me. We’re watching a dog and it was being a ****head overnight. Rather than saddling my wife with him while I hunted, I tapped out this morning. Tomorrow he’s gone, and tomorrow night I’m definitely hunting.

One doe this morning. I actually wore wool bibs on opening day. Temp was 34 when I got up this morning. Warmed up quick but it sure made it hard to crawl out of bed. Man was it nice to get back out there though.
