Team 9 2019 Discussion Thread

Sorry guys, don't get a lot of time to get on here. My name is Mark I'm 45 and will be getting it done here in Ohio. Been busy getting a shipping container to put on land for a hunting cabin.Season opened this last weekend for us but I was busy trying to get area ready for for container. Will be nice to spend more time at the land. Good luck to everyone and congrats Erni

I was in the saddle this evening! 90 and humid. Found out that the Thermacell doesn’t repel velvet mites. Got bit up pretty good. Also kept getting a glance at a shiny object about 80 yards into the deep heavy cover. Every time the wind would blow I would see a flash. Climbed down to investigate and it was a Mylar balloon. No deer tonight
I assume you followed the balloon thread earlier this year . . . https://saddlehunter.com/community/index.php?threads/balloons.13226/

Got out and washed my gear tonight :). It was sprinkling a bit when I went out but it ended up just pouring on me for over an hour. Thank goodness for tree umbrellas. It calmed down right at dark just long enough for me to get out of the tree and back to the truck. No deer but even with the rain it was GREAT to get some HANG TIME.

Glad you got out and enjoyed yourself rain or shine. Also, thank you for inspiring me with your videos. I just received my safeguard and 36’ of 9mm htp rope. I also ordered and received another Helium stick that I cut down to 22.5”. I think I am really going to enjoy rappelling either from my 1 stick or my LWHC.

Boy I've dropped the ball. My name is Josh. 33 year old associate pastor in Baton Rouge Louisiana. Theres a pretty solid chance I'll be moving to south central Wisconsin right in the middle of deer season, so that may not bode well for my tree time. But I do have all of November off for a sabbatical so I will have at least a little time in the stand. I'll be hunting in Louisiana and Alabama.

Did a blind hunt this evening in an area I had never bowhunted in before. I walked through the area more than 10 years ago once grouse hunting right after it had been select cut but have never walked back in there to deer hunt. Did a little cyber scouting and thought the NE wind would be good. Well its grown up a lot in there and it was tight to say the least. Longest shot I could possibly have attempted was 10 yds but there were several trails with fresh rubs and a couple of community scrapes. Weather was awesome, overcast, gentle breeze and 42 degrees when I got down. Didn't see anything but I did hear one get up inside 50 yds away and shake its head about 7:00. Must have gone the other way or skirted by me. Even though I struck out it was an awesome night in the tree. Great to be hunting again!!!!

Awesome, I’d love to have those temperatures. Stuck in the 90’s still. Sounds like you had an enjoyable peaceful hunt

Got in to a bedding area super early this morning. It's been rain off and on. Beautiful morning here.

Setup on ridge trail heading to bedding. It's going to be a short sit this morning. Buddy hit one last night that we ended up backing off of after 350yds of decent blood. Gonna go give him a hand here in a bit. Good luck guys.

Good luck tracking! Pics if y’all find it!

I went and checked some trail cameras and had nothing but stick bugs, although, there was new scrapes about 20 yards from my cameras. I tried out my cut helium/cam cleat with one stick method and it was a bear on pine. It took a lot of energy to get about 10ft haha. The tether kept slipping down the tree and the beal jammy prusik locked up bad on the oplux 8mm. It made it impossible to tend. I did try the safegurd with htp to rappel and it worked pretty good. I just zipped down and headed back. Good luck to those that got up 20ft.

No luck on the recovery. After looking at his arrow there wasn't a drop of blood on it. Just some hair in one of the blades. I suspect he only gave it cut. Must have been a heck of a cut though to have the blood trail we followed last night.

I think I've decided to use WE stepps the first sit and preset Paracord for any future sure for SRT.
