Team 9 2019 Discussion Thread

Hey everyone! I'm a 32 year old Land Surveyor from Central Illinois. Started up archery by watching my neighbors shoot bows in the backyard when I was 10. Got my first bow, pse Spyder, a year later. I've been hunting for the better part of 20 years. 5 years ago I moved from my hometown to a couple hours west for a job opportunity. Bak home I had 300 family owned acres to hunt . Luckily for me there is a public piece that is 15,000 acres 30 miles down the road. Been hunting that until late October, when I then spend the next few weekends hunting private back home. Luckily my job allows me to work 4-10s Mom thru Thurs so I always have a 3 day weekend to get some hunting in.

Last year was my 1st saddle hunting. Didn't get my equipment until later in the season so I haven't had my first harvest in one yet. I have a Kestrel and a predator platform. Been using cut helium's and SRT for climbing. I do have some WE stepps that in my garage, but I haven't had time to try them out yet.

Looking forward to this upcoming season and getting to know everyone!

I'm Bob, I'm 66 years old, I'm proud of the fact that I've reached that age and still do what I do. I have three girls and two grandchildren, a three year old boy that's a handful (finally got my boy) and the light of my life granddaughter. I've been hunting as long as I can remember. I haven't got as many dear as Joe (that's remarkable) but I've done well for where I am. I am also a meat hunter, if its brown its down! LOL. This is my second year saddle hunting last year I shot a coyote from my Kestrel that was chasing three doe and he stopped long enough to give me a shot. I have both a Kestrel and Mantis and I use a LW hand climber seat as my climbing method and platform. I hunt mostly with bow and muzzle loader but this year added a crossbow. I have a lot of guns but prefer these. I've lived in Massachusetts most of my life and very recently moved to Rhode Island. I love New England tried living down South but too hot for me. Living in RI now is nice because they want you to kill deer! You can hunt on Sunday and you can use a crossbow, of course the town I live in does not allow hunting on town property so right down the street there is state property that I can hunt on. That's where I'll be this coming Saturday morning, it's going to be run and gun because I don't know much about the area. I also kinda work in aerospace. I work for Senior Aerospace/ Metal Bellows, I'm a machinist and have been for 47 years.
Good luck everyone and please be safe!

I’m hesitant to put much personal info out there. One of the many reason this is the only social media platform I use, but willing to share the following.

I’m Niko and bow hunt exclusively. Under 40 years old and hunting out of Cottage Groove, WI. This will be my second year deer hunting. Looking to pop two cherries this season. First, seeing a deer from my saddle/stand and secondly, killing said deer from my saddle/stand. I currently only hunt public land as I don’t have access to private. First year didn’t produce anything as it was a steep learning curve learning to hunt deer . Hope to take what I learned last year and put it to use this year with all my new toys (saddle).

So in other words, don’t hold your breath that I’m gonna carry this team haha.

I'm beginning to think this might be the "year of the bear" for me. No, I didn't draw a tag but I've already been within 25 yds of two different bears in areas I hunt that are 80 miles apart. Labor day weekend I was doing some mock sits in the morning while camping with the family and I had a nice bear walk by inside 25 yds. I've got a week off work this week so this morning I took one of my dogs out for a bird hunt/deer scout in an area I hunt locally here. On the way back out we walked right up on another bear feeding on acorns. Luckily my dog was wandering off about 30 yds away from me in the opposite direction of the bear and I don't think he ever knew it was there. Pretty cool to be that close to two different bears inside of three weeks.

Go get 'em @rutjr. I still have 10 ENDLESS DAYS to go. I did spend some of my week off this week out bird hunting/deer scouting and found some impressive acorn drops, a few bedding areas and located a few new trees to climb. I'm itching bad to spend some REAL saddle time at this point.

Here's 5 points haven't gotten a saddle pic yet
