Team 9 2019 Discussion Thread

Hope y’all are successful out there! The cold front is here, 36 degrees this morning. Unfortunately I’m not hunting till this evening.

I had a good morning. Had a nice 9 point around 130 inch come right under the tree. Had some does in the area to just never close enough.

Wow. Your day sounds better than my entire season will be. i checked cameras and had zero pics again so I left and went to a spot that I have told myself to hunt for the last 4 years but never have. I jumped 2 doe about 60 yards from truck. I hiked down into a nasty steep hollow to a creek. I saw several fresh rubs on the benches and some several week old ones at bottom with a trail. Picked a random tree and had 1 doe come by but over my 30yrd self imposed range limit. I think I am going to sit a different random spots every hunt this season. Scout as I hike and hope for the best.

Gotta keep them guessing. That's what I love about saddles. I was in a new tree this morning to, in a area I've wanted to hunt for a while Found buck beds in the spring on a point and kinda went in blind this morning. Had a idea were I wanted to sit just off to the side a bit found the perfect tree. Caught the nine point right in front of me hooking around to his bed to come into it from down wind. I've set a 142 inch limit on myself. I'm trying to shoot a bigger buck than last year. Hope I don't regret it if I have to eat tag soup.

I did that last year . . no regrets about it though. This year I'm needing some venison in the freezer so I'm gonna be a little bit less picky. That said, I've passed a bunch of does but have yet to see an antler this year. I know it will get better though. Looking forward to another long weekend and I should finally get a chance hunting a north wind.

I hiked into an area I have only been in once while working. I hiked 2.5 miles but didnt see anything but a big pond the hogs have torn up. I went out to a neat looking double point and while I was hiking up, across the hollow I could hear a deer blowing and running up the other ridge. Dont know if it was a doe or buck. There was not any fresh sign but a pine tree about 12ft high if it wasent for the fact that it was rubbed and the top at about 4ft was completely broken off and laid down and the lower 4ft was rubbed up from a year or two back. As I was leaving, I found a minute trail and 2 tiny scrapes (basketball sized). I was looking over it and heard a noise behind me. I turned to see a bear about 30 yards from me with my bow on my pack. He turned and ran about as fast as I felt like doing. Everywhere I go, im covered in bear. Not sure if its worth going back to point

I personally have never had a problem with bears. In all but one instance they have done exactly as you described once they determined I was human. In the one other instance the bear just walked calmly away looking back over its shoulder and stopping once in a while to get a better look. In hindsight I had my climber on my back at the time which drastically changed my shilloutte and the bear may have been trying to figure out exactly what I was. I agree this must be the year of the bear though. I've been with 25 yds of 2 and had yet another on trail camera all in different counties here already this year.

Ya. It would have been legal for me to take either bear as our archery quota has not been met. I just dont think I can do it haha.

Not a problem, Rule 5 says over a 1000 posts picture with the saddle not required. If you shot it out of a saddle it will count. If so, post it up. If not, post the next one.:)

I took it from my jx3 hybrid. Where do I go to post in contest, can't seem to find
