Good luck man. Hope you can stay on him and get him
He was 322 yrds from me...actually where he's at is his main bedding spot...I'm not going to press him and get to close...the creek which runs up to his bedding is right in the middle of cattails and its a mucky bottom...last winter I step in it on the edge and went right to my knee...I just have to wait him out and be patient...his major rub line is 40 to 50 yrds away...which I believe he hits during the cover of darkness. Love to head out today but im just so tired from yesterday's sit...got up at 3:30 and headed into my spot at 5am...which I have to say was awesome...I don't ever use a lite anyway but the snow made my entry very easy to say the least it was Brite walking in.....it was cold 27° with a 5 mile an hour north wind....there is two then strip islands hes using. I believe cold weather should help THE MOVEMENT being he was crossing at 3 in the afternoon

Play the wind and get as close as you can. Get aggressive in the hunt. I would rather chance blowing him out (he'll come back) for a few days than watch him from 322 yards away. The adrenaline of a close encounter can't be beat.

Yes believe me I'm pressing the envelope right now by hunting in the hen house...he will show up here by being lazy and bedding with the girls...it will happen20201218_110149.jpg
The tree in the cattails at the top center right is where he is crossing...there's two hard wood ridge lines which run north and south...the westside area offers much better set up opportunities for an ambush...im backed up to a huge lake on the south end...its a waiting game for sure

Are you out of state again @Silvio or is that a typo on the date?

No my county is extended this season because of high deer numbers...didnt even realize it until Sunday at church one of my good friends told me about the extention...Im not planning on going down to my Ohio lease at all...I've got three good bucks here at home so I can hunt hard and keep the wife happy at the same time....I'll keep you all posted

I looked this afternoon and didn't even see that. Just checked again and, what do you know, there it is. That's awesome! Good luck and enjoy the extended season @Silvio!

Hopefully after a few hrs of sleep this morning I'll be heading out around lunch time and setting til dark. I never thought killing a doe would be so dang tough. This year we are thin on does for some strange reason....Anyways if I don't get my first Trad. Kill this year there is always next yr. I can't complain bc my daughter, my dad, and myself all killed nice bucks and that I am thankful for. Anyways good luck to the rest of you still out grinding and Merry CHRISTMAS!!!

Oh and I just shipping confirmation for my AH Merlin! Hopefully it arrives in the next couple of days.......

Hey guys checking back in...where do we stand? I shot a doe in rifle season from a box blind with my son but late season opens back up 12/26 and I could get back out and get a doe if we are in striking distance

Headed to a late archery spot this morning. I had a great big buck encounter there on Tuesday morning. He was accompanied by a mass of deer. Saw 32+ deer over a two hour span from 8:30am-10:30am. Adjusted set up for today to get within bow range of their thicket to thicket trail.

Man I hope you can get'em...late season is one of the best times to be after a good buck...their focus is usually food and here in Michigan thermal cover...thats why I like to hunt spots that have plenty of thick pine, tamarack, and red willow brush....Well we can't shootem from the couch
