Team 9 Thread

I have seen 4 bucks in bow range in the last 5 sits but all have been fairly small. One was a decent 8 but decided to let him walk. I know there's monsters in these swamps / cattail marshes just need them to make a mistake. I may lower my standards soon though with a lot of family commitments coming up.

One of my cameras over the scrape this buck <--- was visiting blew up last night with 5 different small bucks hitting it. Just got a picture of an 8 point checking it in daylight. Have an east wind which sets me up downwind of the scrape and doe bedding so I'm heading that way tomorrow morning.

Saw three does yesterday before 10:00 and that was it for the rest of the day. Kind of made for a long sit. Got down to move around at 2:00 and decided that one stick climbing and rappelling is kind of annoying for moving spots. I like to have all my stuff packed in a specific order to take it out when I get to whatever tree I'm going to be hunting from so I can do it quietly and organized and I didn't enjoy messing with that in a pile of sticks, thorns and leaves when I was trying to not waste too much time to get somewhere else. I ended up just shoving it all in my bag and hunting from the ground upwind of the bench that buck walked along on Nov 1. Found a scrape and two rubs on that bench, one being the biggest I've ever found. Went from my waist to my ankle. Pretty wild

Higher than my waist down to my ankle.
I hunted about 80 yards below this bench on the 1st. Last year all the sign was down low. I walked through this a few times and never saw anything. This year all the sign is higher. Only 3 rubs down where I’ve been hunting as opposed to the 6-10. May revisit this next week on a west wind but have some other areas in mind before this.

I’m out right now in a cheap and easy spot because I couldn’t leave the house today until everyone was awake which meant 7:00. Luckily sunrise wasn’t until right before 8 because I was walking in at 7:30. Since then I’ve seen 5 does and 4 or 5 bucks. Unfortunately all but one were across the road uphill at 550 yards. A doe led a ten point, a spike and an 8 point across a pipeline cut in that order. Pretty cool to see. The 8 later returned as a funky tall 6 pointer so that’s why I’m not sure if there was 4 or 5 bucks. A 4 point was at 45 yards and 3 does came out at 80. I’m about 150 yards from a spot I should be hunting Tuesday more of a planned observation since I figured most things would be out of bow range unless I just got lucky (I’m ok with that). The ten point was the biggest deer I’ve seen while hunting though which is pretty cool.

Had a fun hunt this morning with lots to look at. Also prepped a tree for Tuesday with a predicted wind of sw. have a backup plan in the immediate area just in case.

Got home and a 110ish 8 pointer was staring at my dogs 5 yards out the side door. That’s how she goes.

Missed a solid 8pt this morning guys, I rushed the shot. I should of let him walk 3 or 4 mores steps there was a better opening.

Hopefully, the deer sighting are a good sign for the week. I have my practice shot out of the way now I should be ready. At least it was a clean miss I did find some white hair but no blood on the arrow or ground. He actually walked back in to 10 yards but it was in the thick stuff so I didn't want to force another shot.

I can apply for a city permit but would need to get permission on the 8 acres behind my house. The Catholic Church owns two huge chunks downhill from me which would be even better but I’m not sure the pope would answer my calls. I’ll screen shot my onx to show you where they’re all coming from just for ****s and gigs

There are some rules about distance from the houses you need to be set up. If I could shoot them from my door as they walk up the hill and then go get them wherever they end up I’d be set lol

Sounds like a pain, I'm glad the only neighborhood animals we have in Milwaukee that I've seen are some long beards. I'd hate to have to walk by a stud buck after hunting 14 hours and only seeing a spike.
